GCC9 introduced string hardening mechanisms, which exhibits the error during fs api compilation: error: '__builtin_strncpy' specified bound 4096 equals destination size [-Werror=stringop-truncation] This comes when the length of copy passed to strncpy is is equal to destination size, which could potentially lead to buffer overflow. There is a need to mitigate this potential issue by limiting the size of destination by 1 and explicitly terminate the destination with NULL. Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
