The ice_ptp_link_change function has a comment which mentions "link
err" when referring to the current link status. We are storing the status
of whether link is up or down, which is not an error.
It is appears that this use of err accidentally got included due to an
overzealous search and replace when removing the ice_status enum and local
status variable.
Fix the wording to use the correct term.

The E822 devices support an extended "vernier" calibration which enables
higher precision timestamps by accounting for delays in the PHY, and
compensating for them. These delays are measured by hardware as part of its
vernier calibration logic.
The driver currently starts the PHY in "bypass" mode which skips
the compensation. Then it later attempts to switch from bypass to vernier.
This unfortunately does not work as expected. Instead of properly
compensating for the delays, the hardware continues operating in bypass
without the improved precision expected.
Because we cannot dynamically switch between bypass and vernier mode,
refactor the driver to always operate in vernier mode. This has a slight
downside: Tx timestamp and Rx timestamp requests that occur as the very
first packet set after link up will not complete properly and may be
reported to applications as missing timestamps.
This occurs frequently in test environments where traffic is light or
targeted specifically at testing PTP. However, in practice most
environments will have transmitted or received some data over the network
before such initial requests are made.

The driver name is available in device_driver::name. Right now,
drivers still have to report this piece of information themselves in
their devlink_ops::info_get callback function.
In order to factorize code, make devlink_nl_info_fill() add the driver
name attribute.
Now that the core sets the driver name attribute, drivers are not
supposed to call devlink_info_driver_name_put() anymore. Remove
devlink_info_driver_name_put() and clean-up all the drivers using this
function in their callback.

Implement the .read handler for the NVM and Shadow RAM regions. This
enables user space to read a small chunk of the flash without needing the
overhead of creating a full snapshot.
Update the documentation for ice to detail which regions have direct read
support.

The ice driver supports a region for both the flat NVM contents as well as
the Shadow RAM which is a layer built on top of the flash during device
initialization.
These regions use an almost identical read function, except that the NVM
needs to set the direct flag when reading, while Shadow RAM needs to read
without the direct flag set. They each call ice_read_flat_nvm with the only
difference being whether to set the direct flash flag.
The NVM region read function also was fixed to read the NVM in blocks to
avoid a situation where the firmware reclaims the lock due to taking too
long.
Note that the region snapshot function takes the ops pointer so the
function can easily determine which region to read. Make use of this and
re-use the NVM snapshot function for both the NVM and Shadow RAM regions.
This makes Shadow RAM benefit from the same block approach as the NVM
region. It also reduces code in the ice driver.

Resets may occur with or without user interaction. For example, a TX hang
or reconfiguration of parameters will result in a reset. During reset, the
VSI is freed, freeing any statistics structures inside as well. This would
create an issue for the user where a reset happens in the background,
statistics set to zero, and the user checks ring statistics expecting them
to be populated.
To ensure this doesn't happen, accumulate ring statistics over reset.
Define a new ring statistics structure, ice_ring_stats. The new structure
lives in the VSI's parent, preserving ring statistics when VSI is freed.
1. Define a new structure vsi_ring_stats in the PF scope
2. Allocate/free stats only during probe, unload, or change in ring size
3. Replace previous ring statistics functionality with new structure

Resets happen with or without user interaction. For example, incidents
such as TX hang or a reconfiguration of parameters will result in a reset.
During reset, hardware and software statistics were set to zero. This
created an issue for the user where a reset happens in the background,
statistics set to zero, and the user checks statistics expecting them to
be populated.
To ensure this doesn't happen, keep accumulating stats over reset.
1. Remove function calls which reset hardware and netdev statistics.
2. Do not rollover statistics in ice_stat_update40 during reset.

The driver is currently using ICE_LINK_SPEED_* defines that mirror what
ethtool.h defines, with one exception ICE_LINK_SPEED_UNKNOWN.
This issue is fixed by the following changes:
1. replace ICE_LINK_SPEED_UNKNOWN with 0 because SPEED_UNKNOWN in
ethtool.h is "-1" and that doesn't match the driver's expected behavior
2. transform ICE_LINK_SPEED_*MBPS to SPEED_* using static tables and
fls()-1 to convert from BIT() to an index in a table.

It was observed that PTP HW semaphore can be held for ~50 ms in worst

Commit 1229b33973 ("ice: Add low latency Tx timestamp read") refactored
PTP timestamping logic to use a threaded IRQ instead of a separate kthread.
This implementation introduced ice_misc_intr_thread_fn and redefined the
ice_ptp_process_ts function interface to return a value of whether or not
the timestamp processing was complete.
ice_misc_intr_thread_fn would take the return value from ice_ptp_process_ts
and convert it into either IRQ_HANDLED if there were no more timestamps to
be processed, or IRQ_WAKE_THREAD if the thread should continue processing.
This is not correct, as the kernel does not re-schedule threaded IRQ
functions automatically. IRQ_WAKE_THREAD can only be used by the main IRQ
function.
This results in the ice_ptp_process_ts function (and in turn the
ice_ptp_tx_tstamp function) from only being called exactly once per
interrupt.
If an application sends a burst of Tx timestamps without waiting for a
response, the interrupt will trigger for the first timestamp. However,
later timestamps may not have arrived yet. This can result in dropped or
discarded timestamps. Worse, on E822 hardware this results in the interrupt
logic getting stuck such that no future interrupts will be triggered. The
result is complete loss of Tx timestamp functionality.
Fix this by modifying the ice_misc_intr_thread_fn to perform its own
polling of the ice_ptp_process_ts function. We sleep for a few microseconds
between attempts to avoid wasting significant CPU time. The value was
chosen to allow time for the Tx timestamps to complete without wasting so
much time that we overrun application wait budgets in the worst case.
The ice_ptp_process_ts function also currently returns false in the event
that the Tx tracker is not initialized. This would result in the threaded
IRQ handler never exiting if it gets started while the tracker is not
initialized.
Fix the function to appropriately return true when the tracker is not
initialized.
Note that this will not reproduce with default ptp4l behavior, as the
program always synchronously waits for a timestamp response before sending
another timestamp request.

ADQ, DCB might interfere with Custom Tx Scheduler changes that user
might introduce using devlink-rate API.
Check if ADQ, DCB is active, when user tries to change any setting
in exported Tx scheduler tree. If any of those are active block the user
from doing so, and log an appropriate message.
Remove the exported hierarchy if user enable ADQ or DCB.
Prevent ADQ or DCB from getting configured if user already made some
changes using devlink-rate API.

There is a need to support modification of Tx scheduler tree, in the
ice driver. This will allow user to control Tx settings of each node in
the internal hierarchy of nodes. As a result user will be able to use
Hierarchy QoS implemented entirely in the hardware.
This patch implemenents devlink-rate API. It also exports initial
default hierarchy. It's mostly dictated by the fact that the tree
can't be removed entirely, all we can do is enable the user to modify
it. For example root node shouldn't ever be removed, also nodes that
have children are off-limits.

devlink-rate API requires a priv object to be allocated when node still
doesn't have a parent. This is problematic, because ice_sched_node can't
be currently created without a parent.
Add an option to pre-allocate memory for ice_sched_node struct. Add
new arguments to ice_sched_add() and ice_sched_add_elems() that allow
for pre-allocation of memory for ice_sched_node struct.

The first one allows VFs to clear all previously programmed

Previously, during removal of trusted VF when VF is down there was
number of spurious interrupt equal to number of queues on VF.
Add check if VF already has inactive queues. If VF is disabled and
has inactive rx queues then do not disable rx queues.
Add check in ice_vsi_stop_tx_ring if it's VF's vsi and if VF is
disabled.

Many drivers implement the .adjfreq or .adjfine PTP op function with the
same basic logic:
1. Determine a base frequency value
2. Multiply this by the abs() of the requested adjustment, then divide by
the appropriate divisor (1 billion, or 65,536 billion).
3. Add or subtract this difference from the base frequency to calculate a
new adjustment.
A few drivers need the difference and direction rather than the combined
new increment value.
I recently converted the Intel drivers to .adjfine and the scaled parts per
million (65.536 parts per billion) logic. To avoid overflow with minimal
loss of precision, mul_u64_u64_div_u64 was used.
The basic logic used by all of these drivers is very similar, and leads to
a lot of duplicate code to perform the same task.
Rather than keep this duplicate code, introduce diff_by_scaled_ppm and
adjust_by_scaled_ppm. These helper functions calculate the difference or
adjustment necessary based on the scaled parts per million input.
The diff_by_scaled_ppm function returns true if the difference should be
subtracted, and false otherwise.
Update the Intel drivers to use the new helper functions. Other vendor
drivers will be converted to .adjfine and this helper function in the
following changes.

In the event of a Tx hang it can be useful to read a variety of hardware
registers to capture some state about why the transmit queue got stuck.
Extend the ETHTOOL_GREGS dump provided by the ice driver with several CSR
registers that provide such relevant information regarding the hardware Tx
state. This enables capturing relevant data to enable debugging such a Tx
hang.

This patch uses TC skbedit queue_mapping action to support
forwarding packets to a device queue. Such filters with action
forward to queue will be the highest priority switch filter in
HW.
Example:
$ tc filter add dev ens4f0 protocol ip ingress flower\
dst_ip 192.168.1.12 ip_proto tcp dst_port 5001\
action skbedit queue_mapping 5 skip_sw
The above command adds an ingress filter, incoming packets
qualifying the match will be accepted into queue 5. The queue
number is in decimal format.
Refactored ice_add_tc_flower_adv_fltr() to consolidate code with
action FWD_TO_VSI and FWD_TO QUEUE.

Enable support for adding TC rules that filter on the VLAN priority
in switchdev mode.
VLAN priority are the first 3 bits of 16b switch field vector word
which contain also vlan id value within its last 12 bits.
When getting vlan priority value from tc match.key it
has to be shifted first to proper bits positions (by VLAN_PRIO_SHIFT)
and then can be added to the joint 'vlan' field in ice_vlan_hdr
in lookup element.
The mask of lookup changes accordingly.
0x0FFF - when only vlan id is added in filter
0xE000 - when only vlan priority is added in filter
0xEFFF - when both these values are specified

We had multiple customers in the past months that reported commit
296f13ff38 ("ice: xsk: Force rings to be sized to power of 2")
makes them unable to use ring size of 8160 in conjunction with AF_XDP.
Remove this restriction.

AF_XDP Tx descriptor cleaning in ice driver currently works in a "lazy"
way - descriptors are not cleaned immediately after send. We rather hold
on with cleaning until we see that free space in ring drops below
particular threshold. This was supposed to reduce the amount of
unnecessary work related to cleaning and instead of keeping the ring
empty, ring was rather saturated.
In AF_XDP realm cleaning Tx descriptors implies producing them to CQ.
This is a way of letting know user space that particular descriptor has
been sent, as John points out in [0].
We tried to implement serial descriptor cleaning which would be used in
conjunction with batched cleaning but it made code base more convoluted
and probably harder to maintain in future. Therefore we step away from
batched cleaning in a current form in favor of an approach where we set
RS bit on every last descriptor from a batch and clean always at the
beginning of ice_xmit_zc().
This means that we give up a bit of Tx performance, but this doesn't
hurt l2fwd scenario which is way more meaningful than txonly as this can
be treaten as AF_XDP based packet generator. l2fwd is not hurt due to
the fact that Tx side is much faster than Rx and Rx is the one that has
to catch Tx up.
FWIW Tx descriptors are still produced in a batched way.

The original patch added the static branch to handle the situation,
when assigning an XDP TX queue to every CPU is not possible,
so they have to be shared.
However, in the XDP transmit handler ice_xdp_xmit(), an error was
returned in such cases even before static condition was checked,
thus making queue sharing still impossible.

E810 products can support low latency Tx timestamp register read.
This requires usage of threaded IRQ instead of kthread to reduce the
kthread start latency (spikes up to 20 ms).
Add a check for the device capability and use the new method if
supported.

When performing a reset on ice driver with link-down-on-close flag on
interface would always stay down. Fix this by moving a check of this
flag to ice_stop() that is called only when user wants to bring
interface down.

Add support for offloading packets based on L2TPv3 session id in switchdev
mode.

Changes in iproute2 are required to be able to specify l2tpv3_sid.

The driver currently takes an all or nothing approach for device MSI-X
vectors. Meaning if it does not get its full allocation, it will fail and
not load. There is no reason it can't work with a reduced number of MSI-X
vectors. Take a similar approach as commit 741106f7bd ("ice: Improve
MSI-X fallback logic") and, instead, adjust the MSI-X request to make use
of what is available.

Fix leak, when user changes ring parameters.
During reallocation of RX buffers, new DMA mappings are created for
those buffers. New buffers with different RX ring count should
substitute older ones, but those buffers were freed in ice_vsi_cfg_rxq
and reallocated again with ice_alloc_rx_buf. kfree on rx_buf caused
leak of already mapped DMA.
Reallocate ZC with xdp_buf struct, when BPF program loads. Reallocate
back to rx_buf, when BPF program unloads.
If BPF program is loaded/unloaded and XSK pools are created, reallocate
RX queues accordingly in XDP_SETUP_XSK_POOL handler.

Allow to configure port split options using the devlink port split
interface. Support port splitting only for port 0, as the FW has
a predefined set of available port split options for the whole device.
Add ice_devlink_port_options_print() function to print the table with
all available FW port split options. It will be printed after each port
split and unsplit command.
Add documentation for devlink port split interface usage for the ice
driver.

The ice_nvm_write_activate function is used to issue AdminQ command
0x0707 which sends a request to firmware to activate a flash bank. For
basic operations, this command takes an 8bit flag value which defines
the flags to control the activation process. There are some additional
flags that are stored in a second 8bit flag field.
We can simplify the interface by using a u16 cmd_flags variable. Split
this over the two bytes of flag storage in the structure.

Add support for parsing TTL and ToS (Hop Limit and Traffic Class) tc fields
and matching on those fields in filters. Incomplete part of implementation
was already in place (getting enc_ip and enc_tos from flow_match_ip and
writing them to filter header).
Note: matching on ipv6 ip_ttl, enc_ttl and enc_tos is currently not
supported by the DDP package.

Ice driver allocates per cpu XDP queues so that redirect path can safely
use smp_processor_id() as an index to the array. At the same time
though, XDP rings are used to pick NAPI context to call napi_schedule()
or set NAPIF_STATE_MISSED. When user reduces queue count, say to 8, and
num_possible_cpus() of underlying platform is 44, then this means queue
vectors with correlated NAPI contexts will carry several XDP queues.
This in turn can result in a broken behavior where NAPI context of
interest will never be scheduled and AF_XDP socket will not process any
traffic.
To fix this, let us change the way how XDP rings are assigned to Rx
rings and use this information later on when setting
ice_tx_ring::xsk_pool pointer. For each Rx ring, grab the associated
queue vector and walk through Tx ring's linked list. Once we stumble
upon XDP ring in it, assign this ring to ice_rx_ring::xdp_ring.
Previous [0] approach of fixing this issue was for txonly scenario
because of the described grouping of XDP rings across queue vectors. So,
relying on Rx ring meant that NAPI context could be scheduled with a
queue vector without XDP ring with associated XSK pool.

Make sure that only the valid combinations of FCS/CRC stripping and
VLAN stripping offloads are allowed.
You cannot have FCS/CRC stripping disabled while VLAN stripping is
enabled - this breaks the correctness of the FCS/CRC.
If administrator tries to enable VLAN stripping when FCS/CRC stripping is
disabled, the request should be rejected.
If administrator tries to disable FCS/CRC stripping when VLAN stripping
is enabled, the request should be rejected if VLANs are configured. If
there is no VLAN configured, then both FCS/CRC and VLAN stripping should
be disabled.
Testing Hints:
The default settings after driver load are:
- VLAN C-Tag offloads are enabled
- VLAN S-Tag offloads are disabled
- FCS/CRC stripping is enabled
Restore the default settings before each test with the command:

The driver can allow the user to configure whether the CRC aka the FCS
(Frame Check Sequence) is DMA'd to the host as part of the receive
buffer. The driver usually wants this feature disabled so that the
hardware checks the FCS and strips it in order to save PCI bandwidth.
Control the reception of FCS to the host using the command:
ethtool -K eth0 rx-fcs <on|off>
The default shown in ethtool -k eth0 | grep fcs; should be "off", as the
hardware will drop any frame with a bad checksum, and DMA of the
checksum is useless overhead especially for small packets.
Testing Hints:
test the FCS/CRC arrives with received packets using
tcpdump -nnpi eth0 -xxxx
and it should show crc data as the last 4 bytes of the packet. Can also
use wireshark to turn on CRC checking and check the data is correct.

VF was not able to send tagged traffic when it didn't
have any VLAN interfaces and VLAN anti-spoofing was enabled.
Fix this by allowing VFs with no VLAN filters to send tagged
traffic. After VF adds a VLAN interface it will be able to
send tagged traffic matching VLAN filters only.
Testing hints:
1. Spawn VF
2. Send tagged packet from a VF
3. The packet should be sent out and not dropped
4. Add a VLAN interface on VF
5. Send tagged packet on that VLAN interface
6. Packet should be sent out and not dropped
7. Send tagged packet with id different than VLAN interface
8. Packet should be dropped

Commit 1273f89578 ("ice: Fix broken IFF_ALLMULTI handling")
introduced new checks when setting/clearing promiscuous mode. But if the
requested promiscuous mode setting already exists, an -EEXIST error
message would be printed. This is incorrect because promiscuous mode is
either on/off and shouldn't print an error when the requested
configuration is already set.
This can happen when removing a bridge with two bonded interfaces and
promiscuous most isn't fully cleared from VLAN VSI in hardware.
Fix this by ignoring cases where requested promiscuous mode exists.

When at least two interfaces are bonded and a bridge is enabled on the
bond, an error can occur when the bridge is removed and re-added. The
reason for the error is because promiscuous mode was not fully cleared from
the VLAN VSI in the hardware. With this change, promiscuous mode is
properly removed when the bridge disconnects from bonding.

Ignore EEXIST error when setting promiscuous mode.
This fix is needed because the driver could set promiscuous mode
when it still has not cleared properly.
Promiscuous mode could be set only once, so setting it second
time will be rejected.

Avoid enabling or disabling VLAN 0 when trying to set promiscuous
VLAN mode if double VLAN mode is enabled. This fix is needed
because the driver tries to add the VLAN 0 filter twice (once for
inner and once for outer) when double VLAN mode is enabled. The
filter program is rejected by the firmware when double VLAN is
enabled, because the promiscuous filter only needs to be set once.
This issue was missed in the initial implementation of double VLAN
mode.

If the PTP hardware clock is adjusted, the ice driver must update the
cached PHC timestamp. This is required in order to perform timestamp
extension on the shorter timestamps captured by the PHY.
Currently, we simply call ice_ptp_update_cached_phctime in the settime and
adjtime callbacks. This has a few issues:
1) if ICE_CFG_BUSY is set because another thread is updating the Rx rings,
we will exit with an error. This is not checked, and the functions do
not re-schedule the update. This could leave the cached timestamp
incorrect until the next scheduled work item execution.
2) even if we did handle an update, any currently outstanding Tx timestamp
would be extended using the wrong cached PHC time. This would produce
incorrect results.
To fix these issues, introduce a new ice_ptp_reset_cached_phctime function.
This function calls the ice_ptp_update_cached_phctime, and discards
outstanding Tx timestamps.
If the ice_ptp_update_cached_phctime function fails because ICE_CFG_BUSY is
set, we log a warning and schedule the thread to execute soon. The update
function is modified so that it always updates the cached copy in the PF
regardless. This ensures we have the most up to date values possible and
minimizes the risk of a packet timestamp being extended with the wrong
value.
It would be nice if we could skip reporting Rx timestamps until the cached
values are up to date. However, we can't access the Rx rings while
ICE_CFG_BUSY is set because they are actively being updated by another
thread.

A following change is going to want to make use of ice_ptp_flush_tx_tracker
earlier in the ice_ptp.c file. To make this work, move the Tx timestamp
tracking functions higher up in the file, and pull the
ice_ptp_update_cached_timestamp function below them. This should have no
functional change.

The ice driver requires a cached copy of the PHC time in order to perform
timestamp extension on Tx and Rx hardware timestamp values. This cached PHC
time must always be updated at least once every 2 seconds. Otherwise, the
math used to perform the extension would produce invalid results.
The updates are supposed to occur periodically in the PTP kthread work
item, which is scheduled to run every half second. Thus, we do not expect
an update to be delayed for so long. However, there are error conditions
which can cause the update to be delayed.
Track this situation by using jiffies to determine approximately how long
ago the last update occurred. Add a new statistic and a dev_warn when we
have failed to update the cached PHC time. This makes the error case more
obvious.

Several Intel networking drivers which support PTP track when Tx timestamps
are skipped or when they timeout without a timestamp from hardware. The
conditions which could cause these events are rare, but it can be useful to
know when and how often they occur.
Implement similar statistics for the ice driver, tx_hwtstamp_skipped,
tx_hwtstamp_timeouts, and tx_hwtstamp_flushed.

When we create new Rx rings, the cached_phctime field is zero initialized.
This could result in incorrect timestamp reporting due to the cached value
not yet being updated. Although a background task will periodically update
the cached value, ensure it matches the existing cached value in the PF
structure at ring initialization.

When the user changes the number of queues via ethtool, the driver
allocates new rings. This allocation did not initialize tx_tstamps. This
results in the tx_tstamps field being zero (due to kcalloc allocation), and
would result in a NULL pointer dereference when attempting a transmit
timestamp on the new ring.

WARN_ON checks were added to validate the vsi->vf pointer and
catch programming errors. However, one check to vsi->vf was missed.

This improves the precision of the frequency adjustments by taking advantage
of the full scaled parts per million input coming from user space.
In addition, all implementations are converted to using the
mul_u64_u64_div_u64 function which better handles the intermediate value.
This function supports architecture specific instructions where possible to
avoid loss of precision if the normal 64-bit multiplication would overflow.
Of note, the i40e implementation is now able to avoid loss of precision on
slower link speeds by taking advantage of this to multiply by the link speed
factor first. This results in a significantly more precise adjustment by
allowing the calculation to impact the lower bits.
This also gets us a step closer to being able to remove the .adjfreq
entirely by removing its use from many drivers.
I plan to follow this up with a series to update the drivers from other
vendors and drop the .adjfreq implementation entirely.

When trust is turned off for the VF, the expectation is that promiscuous
and allmulticast filters are removed. Currently default VSI filter is not
getting cleared in this flow.

In current implementation default VSI switch filter is only able to
forward traffic to a single VSI. This limits promiscuous mode with
private flag 'vf-true-promisc-support' to a single VF. Enabling it on
the second VF won't work. Also allmulticast support doesn't seem to be
properly implemented when vf-true-promisc-support is true.
Use standard ice_add_rule_internal() function that already implements
forwarding to multiple VSI's instead of constructing AQ call manually.
Add switch filter for allmulticast mode when vf-true-promisc-support is
enabled. The same filter is added regardless of the flag - it doesn't
matter for this case.
Remove unnecessary fields in switch structure. From now on book keeping
will be done by ice_add_rule_internal().
Refactor unnecessarily passed function arguments.
To test:
1) Create 2 VM's, and two VF's. Attach VF's to VM's.
2) Enable promiscuous mode on both of them and check if
traffic is seen on both of them.

The PTP frequency adjustment code needs to determine an appropriate
adjustment given an input scaled_ppm adjustment.
We calculate the adjustment to the register by multiplying the base
(nominal) increment value by the scaled_ppm and then dividing by the
scaled one million value.
For very large adjustments, this might overflow. To avoid this, both the
scaled_ppm and divisor values are downshifted.
We can avoid that on X86 architectures by using mul_u64_u64_div_u64. This
helper function will perform the multiplication and division with 128bit
intermediate values. We know that scaled_ppm is never larger than the
divisor so this operation will never result in an overflow.
This improves the accuracy of the calculations for large adjustment values
on X86. It is likely an improvement on other architectures as well because
the default implementation of mul_u64_u64_div_u64 is smarter than the
original approach taken in the ice code.
Additionally, this implementation is easier to read, using fewer local
variables and lines of code to implement.

Tx side sets EOP and RS bits on descriptors to indicate that a
particular descriptor is the last one and needs to generate an irq when
it was sent. These bits should not be checked on completion path
regardless whether it's the Tx or the Rx. DD bit serves this purpose and
it indicates that a particular descriptor is either for Rx or was
successfully Txed. EOF is also set as loopback test does not xmit
fragmented frames.
Look at (DD | EOF) bits setting in ice_lbtest_receive_frames() instead
of EOP and RS pair.

The driver currently does not allow two VSIs in the same PF domain
to have the same unicast MAC address. This is incorrect in the sense
that a policy decision is being made in the driver when it must be
left to the user. This approach was causing issues when rebooting
the system with VFs spawned not being able to change their MAC addresses.
Such errors were present in dmesg:

exists on this PF. Preventing setting VF 7 unicast MAC address to 6a:0d:e4:70:ca:d1
Fix that by removing this restriction. Doing this also allows
us to remove some additional code that's checking if a unicast MAC
filter already exists.

Fix checksum offload on VXLAN tunnels.
In case, when mpls protocol is not used, set l4 header to transport
header of skb. This fixes case, when user tries to offload checksums
of VXLAN tunneled traffic.

corrupted, due to l4 header pointing wrong address. NIC would then drop

Legacy VLAN implementation allows for untrusted VF to have 8 VLAN
filters, not counting VLAN 0 filters. Current VLAN_V2 implementation
lowers available filters for VF, by counting in VLAN 0 filter for both
TPIDs.
Fix this by counting only non zero VLAN filters.
Without this patch, untrusted VF would not be able to access 8 VLAN
filters.

Add support for creating PPPoE filters in switchdev mode. Add support
for parsing PPPoE and PPP-specific tc options: pppoe_sid and ppp_proto.
Example filter:
tc filter add dev $PF1 ingress protocol ppp_ses prio 1 flower pppoe_sid \
1234 ppp_proto ip skip_sw action mirred egress redirect dev $VF1_PR
Changes in iproute2 are required to use the new fields.
ICE COMMS DDP package is required to create a filter as it contains PPPoE
profiles. Added a warning message when loaded DDP package does not contain
required profiles.

After commit 62b36c3ea6 ("PCI/AER: Remove

When creating a snapshot of the NVM the driver needs to read the entire
contents from the NVM and store it. The NVM reads are protected by a lock
that is shared between the driver and the firmware.
If the driver takes too long to read the entire NVM (which can happen on
some systems) then the firmware could reclaim the lock and cause subsequent
reads from the driver to fail.
We could fix this by increasing the timeout that we pass to the firmware,
but we could end up in the same situation again if the system is slow.
Instead have the driver break the reading of the NVM into blocks that are
small enough that we have confidence that the read will complete within the
timeout time, but large enough not to cause significant AQ overhead.

The driver currently presumes that the record data in the PLDM header
of the firmware image will match the device ID of the running device.
This is true for E810 devices. It appears that for E822 devices that
this is not guaranteed to be true.
Fix this by adding a check for the generic E822 device.

%ICE_MAX_FV_WORDS is 48, so bitmap_set() here was initializing only
48 bits, leaving a junk in the rest 16.
It was previously hidden due to that filling 48 bits makes
bitmap_set() call external __bitmap_set(), but after making it use
plain bit arithmetics on small bitmaps, compilers started seeing
the issue. It was still working because those 16 weren't used
anywhere anyhow.
bitmap_{clear,set}() are not really intended to initialize bitmaps,
rather to modify already initialized ones, as they don't do anything
past the passed number of bits. The correct function to do this in
that particular case is bitmap_fill(), so use it here. It will do
`*possible_idx = ~0UL` instead of `*possible_idx |= GENMASK(47, 0)`,
not leaving anything in an undefined state.

Enable the support of creating all kinds of declared dummy packets
with the VLAN tags by inserting VLAN headers (single VLAN and QinQ
cases) if needed.
Decrease the number of declared dummy packets and increase in the
possible packet's combinations for adding switch rules.
This change enables support of creating filters that match both on
VLAN + tunnels properties in switchdev.

In current implementation ice_update_phy_type enables all link modes
for selected speed. This approach doesn't work for 1000M speeds,
because both copper (1000baseT) and optical (1000baseX) standards
cannot be enabled at once.
Fix this, by adding the function `ice_set_phy_type_from_speed()`
for 1000M speeds.

Adding two filters with same matching criteria ends up with
one rule in hardware with act = ICE_FWD_TO_VSI_LIST.
In order to remove them properly we have to keep the
information about vsi handle which is used in VSI bitmap
(ice_adv_fltr_mgmt_list_entry::vsi_list_info::vsi_map).

Commit 34a897758e ("ice: Add support for inner etype in switchdev")
added the ability to match on inner ethertype. A side effect of that change
is that it is now impossible to add some filters for protocols which do not
contain inner ethtype field. tc requires the protocol field to be specified
when providing certain other options, e.g. src_ip. This is a problem in
case of GTP - when user wants to specify e.g. src_ip, they also need to
specify protocol in tc command (otherwise tc fails with: Illegal "src_ip").
Because GTP is a tunnel, the protocol field is treated as inner protocol.
GTP does not contain inner ethtype field and the filter cannot be added.
To fix this, ignore the ethertype field in case of GTP filters.

Disable VF's RX/TX queues, when VIRTCHNL_OP_CONFIG_VSI_QUEUES fail.
Not disabling them might lead to scenario, where PF driver leaves VF
queues enabled, when VF's VSI failed queue config.
In this scenario VF should not have RX/TX queues enabled. If PF failed
to set up VF's queues, VF will reset due to TX timeouts in VF driver.
Initialize iterator 'i' to -1, so if error happens prior to configuring
queues then error path code will not disable queue 0. Loop that
configures queues will is using same iterator, so error path code will
only disable queues that were configured.

VLAN filtering features, that is C-Tag and S-Tag, in DVM mode must be
both enabled or disabled.
In case of turning off/on only one of the features, another feature must
be turned off/on automatically with issuing an appropriate message to
the kernel log.

The offset was being incorrectly calculated for E822 - that led to
collisions in choosing TX timestamp register location when more than
one port was trying to use timestamping mechanism.
In E822 one quad is being logically split between ports, so quad 0 is
having trackers for ports 0-3, quad 1 ports 4-7 etc. Each port should
have separate memory location for tracking timestamps. Due to error for
example ports 1 and 2 had been assigned to quad 0 with same offset (0),
while port 1 should have offset 0 and 1 offset 16.
Fix it by correctly calculating quad offset.

We should have 'n', then 'size', not the opposite.
This is harmless because the 2 values are just multiplied, but having
the correct order silence a (unpublished yet) smatch warning.
While at it use '*tun_seg' instead '*seg'. The both variable have the same
type, so the result is the same, but it lokks more logical.

In switchdev mode VF VLAN caps will not be set there is no need
to have specific VLAN ops for representor that only returns not
supported error.
As VLAN configuration commands will be blocked, the VF driver
can't disable VLAN stripping at initialization. It leads to the
situation when VLAN stripping on VF VSI is on, but in kernel it
is off. To prevent this, disable VLAN stripping in VSI
initialization. It doesn't break other usecases, because it is set
according to kernel settings.

In switchdev mode any VLAN manipulation from VF side isn't allowed.
In order to prevent parsing VLAN commands don't set VF VLAN caps.
This will result in removing VLAN specific opcodes from allowlist.
If VF send any VLAN specific opcode PF driver will answer with not
supported error.
With this approach VF driver know that VLAN caps aren't supported so it
shouldn't send VLAN specific opcodes. Thanks to that, some ugly errors
will not show up in dmesg (ex. on creating VFs in switchdev mode
there are errors about not supported VLAN insertion and stripping)
Move setting VLAN caps to separate function, including
switchdev mode specific code.

Global `-Warray-bounds` enablement revealed some problems, one of
which is the way we define and use AQC rules messages.
In fact, they have a shared header, followed by the actual message,
which can be of one of several different formats. So it is
straightforward enough to define that header as a separate struct
and then embed it into message structures as needed, but currently
all the formats reside in one union coupled with the header. Then,
the code allocates only the memory needed for a particular message
format, leaving the union potentially incomplete.
There are no actual reads or writes beyond the end of an allocated
chunk, but at the same time, the whole implementation is fragile and
backed by an equilibrium rather than strong type and memory checks.
Define the structures the other way around: one for the common
header and the rest for the actual formats with the header embedded.
There are no places where several union members would be used at the
same time anyway. This allows to use proper struct_size() and let
the compiler know what is going to be done.
Finally, unsilence `-Warray-bounds` back for ice_switch.c.
Other little things worth mentioning:
* &ice_sw_rule_vsi_list_query is not used anywhere, remove it. It's
weird anyway to talk to hardware with purely kernel types
(bitmaps);
* expand the ICE_SW_RULE_*_SIZE() macros to pass a structure
variable name to struct_size() to let it do strict typechecking;
* rename ice_sw_rule_lkup_rx_tx::hdr to ::hdr_data to keep ::hdr
for the header structure to have the same name for it constistenly
everywhere;
* drop the duplicate of %ICE_SW_RULE_RX_TX_NO_HDR_SIZE residing in
ice_switch.h.

GCC 12 gets upset because driver allocates partial
struct ice_aqc_sw_rules_elem buffers. The writes are
within bounds.
Silence these warnings for now, our build bot runs GCC 12
so we won't allow any new instances.

Adaptive-rx and Adaptive-tx are interrupt moderation settings
that can be enabled/disabled using ethtool:
ethtool -C ethX adaptive-rx on/off adaptive-tx on/off
Unfortunately those settings are getting cleared after
changing number of queues, or in ethtool world 'channels':
ethtool -L ethX rx 1 tx 1
Clearing was happening due to introduction of bit fields
in ice_ring_container struct. This way only itr_setting
bits were rebuilt during ice_vsi_rebuild_set_coalesce().
Introduce an anonymous struct of bitfields and create a
union to refer to them as a single variable.
This way variable can be easily saved and restored.

The hardware statistics counters are not cleared during resets so the
drivers first access is to initialize the baseline and then subsequent
reads are for reporting the counters. The statistics counters are read
during the watchdog subtask when the interface is up. If the baseline
is not initialized before the interface is up, then there can be a brief
window in which some traffic can be transmitted/received before the
initial baseline reading takes place.
Directly initialize ethtool statistics in driver open so the baseline will
be initialized when the interface is up, and any dropped packets
incremented before the interface is up won't be reported.

Do not allow to write timestamps on RX rings if PF is being configured.
When PF is being configured RX rings can be freed or rebuilt. If at the
same time timestamps are updated, the kernel will crash by dereferencing

When ADQ queue groups (TCs) are created via tc mqprio command,
RSS contexts and associated RSS indirection tables are configured
automatically per TC based on the queue ranges specified for
each traffic class.
For ex:
tc qdisc add dev enp175s0f0 root mqprio num_tc 3 map 0 1 2 \
queues 2@0 8@2 4@10 hw 1 mode channel
will create 3 queue groups (TC 0-2) with queue ranges 2, 8 and 4
in 3 queue groups. Each queue group is associated with its
own RSS context and RSS indirection table.
Add support to expose RSS indirection tables for all ADQ queue
groups using ethtool RSS contexts interface.

representors, as well as re-enables displaying PCI bus-info in ethtool.
bus-info information has previously been removed from ethtool for port
representors, as a workaround for a bug in lshw tool, where the tool would
sometimes display wrong descriptions for port representors/PF. Now the bug
has been fixed in lshw tool [1].
Removing the workaround can be considered a regression (user might be
running an older, unpatched version of lshw) (see [2] for discussion).
However, calling SET_NETDEV_DEV also produces the same effect as removing
the workaround, i.e. lshw is able to access PCI bus-info (this time not
via ethtool, but in some other way) and the bug can occur.
Adding SET_NETDEV_DEV is important, as it greatly improves netdev naming -
- port representors are named based on PF name. Currently port representors
are named "ethX", which might be confusing, especially when spawning VFs on
multiple PFs. Furthermore, it's currently harder to determine to which PF
does a particular port representor belong, as bus-info is not shown in
ethtool.
Consider the following three cases:
Case 1: current code - driver workaround in place, no SET_NETDEV_DEV,
lshw with or without fix. Port representors are not displayed because they
don't have bus-info (the workaround), PFs are labelled correctly:

Read stale PTP Tx timestamps from PHY on cleanup.
After running out of Tx timestamps request handlers, hardware (HW) stops
reporting finished requests. Function ice_ptp_tx_tstamp_cleanup() used
to only clean up stale handlers in driver and was leaving the hardware
registers not read. Not reading stale PTP Tx timestamps prevents next
interrupts from arriving and makes timestamping unusable.

The iAVF driver uses 3 virtchnl op codes to communicate with the PF
regarding the VF Tx queues:
* VIRTCHNL_OP_CONFIG_VSI_QUEUES configures the hardware and firmware
logic for the Tx queues
* VIRTCHNL_OP_ENABLE_QUEUES configures the queue interrupts
* VIRTCHNL_OP_DISABLE_QUEUES disables the queue interrupts and Tx rings.
There is a bug in the iAVF driver due to the race condition between VF
reset request and shutdown being executed in parallel. This leads to a
break in logic and VIRTCHNL_OP_DISABLE_QUEUES is not being sent.
If this occurs, the PF driver never cleans up the Tx queues. This results
in leaving behind stale Tx queue settings in the hardware and firmware.
The most obvious outcome is that upon the next
VIRTCHNL_OP_CONFIG_VSI_QUEUES, the PF will fail to program the Tx
scheduler node due to a lack of space.
We need to protect ICE driver against such situation.
To fix this, make sure we clear existing stale settings out when
handling VIRTCHNL_OP_CONFIG_VSI_QUEUES. This ensures we remove the
previous settings.
Calling ice_vf_vsi_dis_single_txq should be safe as it will do nothing if
the queue is not configured. The function already handles the case when the
Tx queue is not currently configured and exits with a 0 return in that
case.

Function ice_plug_aux_dev() assigns pf->adev field too early prior
aux device initialization and on other side ice_unplug_aux_dev()
starts aux device deinit and at the end assigns NULL to pf->adev.
This is wrong because pf->adev should always be non-NULL only when
aux device is fully initialized and ready. This wrong order causes
a crash when ice_send_event_to_aux() call occurs because that function
depends on non-NULL value of pf->adev and does not assume that
aux device is half-initialized or half-destroyed.
After order correction the race window is tiny but it is still there,
as Leon mentioned and manipulation with pf->adev needs to be protected
by mutex.
Fix (un-)plugging functions so pf->adev field is set after aux device
init and prior aux device destroy and protect pf->adev assignment by
new mutex. This mutex is also held during ice_send_event_to_aux()
call to ensure that aux device is valid during that call.
Note that device lock used ice_send_event_to_aux() needs to be kept
to avoid race with aux drv unload.

is unplugged/plugged. When MTU of the device is changed an event is
sent to aux device asynchronously. This can race with (un)plugging
operation and because pf->adev is set too early (plug) or too late
(unplug) the function ice_send_event_to_aux() can touch uninitialized

This reverts commit bfaaba99e6.
Commit bfaaba99e6 ("ice: Hide bus-info in ethtool for PRs in switchdev
mode") was a workaround for lshw tool displaying incorrect
descriptions for port representors and PF in switchdev mode. Now the issue
has been fixed in the lshw tool itself [1].
Removing the workaround can be considered a regression, as the user might
be running older, unpatched lshw version. However, another important change
(ice: link representors to PCI device, which improves port representor
netdev naming with SET_NETDEV_DEV) also causes the same "regression" as
removing the workaround, i.e. unpatched lshw is able to access bus-info
information (this time not via ethtool) and the bug can occur. Therefore,
the workaround no longer prevents the bug and can be removed.

Since commit fe99d1c06c ("ice: make ice_reset_all_vfs void"), the
ice_reset_all_vfs function has not returned anything. The function comment
still indicated it did. Fix this.
While here, also add a line to clarify the function resets all VFs at once
in response to hardware resets such as a PF reset.

The ice_get_vf_vsi function can return NULL in some cases, such as if
handling messages during a reset where the VSI is being removed and
recreated.
Several places throughout the driver do not bother to check whether this
VSI pointer is valid. Static analysis tools maybe report issues because
they detect paths where a potentially NULL pointer could be dereferenced.
Fix this by checking the return value of ice_get_vf_vsi everywhere.

Switch id should be the same for each netdevice on a driver.
The id must be unique between devices on the same system, but
does not need to be unique between devices on different systems.
The switch id is used to locate ports on a switch and to know if
aggregated ports belong to the same switch.
To meet this requirements, use pci_get_dsn as switch id value, as
this is unique value for each devices on the same system.
Implementing switch id is needed by automatic tools for kubernetes.
Set switch id by setting devlink port attribiutes and calling
devlink_port_attrs_set while creating pf (for uplink) and vf
(for representator) devlink port.
To get switch id (in switchdev mode):

Both ice_idc.c and ice_virtchnl.c carry their own implementation of a
helper function that is looking for a given VSI based on provided
vsi_num. Their functionality is the same, so let's introduce the common
function in ice.h that both of the mentioned sites will use.
This is a strictly cleanup thing, no functionality is changed.

We need to wait 5 s for EMP reset after firmware flash. Code was extracted
from OOT driver (ice v1.8.3 downloaded from sourceforge). Without this
wait, fw_activate let card in inconsistent state and recoverable only
by second flash/activate. Flash was tested on these fw's:

Previous patch labelled "ice: Fix incorrect locking in
ice_vc_process_vf_msg()" fixed an issue with ignored messages
sent by VF driver but a small race window still left.

Setting of VLAN for VF causes a reset of the affected VF using
ice_reset_vf() function that runs with cfg_lock taken:
1. ice_notify_vf_reset() informs IAVF driver that reset is needed and
IAVF schedules its own reset procedure
2. Bit ICE_VF_STATE_DIS is set in vf->vf_state
3. Misc initialization steps
4. ice_sriov_post_vsi_rebuild() -> ice_vf_set_initialized() and that
clears ICE_VF_STATE_DIS in vf->vf_state
Step 3 is mentioned race window because IAVF reset procedure runs in
parallel and one of its step is sending of VIRTCHNL_OP_GET_VF_RESOURCES
message (opcode==3). This message is handled in ice_vc_process_vf_msg()
and if it is received during the mentioned race window then it's
marked as invalid and error is returned to VF driver.
Protect vf_state check in ice_vc_process_vf_msg() by cfg_lock to avoid
this race condition.

Usage of mutex_trylock() in ice_vc_process_vf_msg() is incorrect
because message sent from VF is ignored and never processed.
Use mutex_lock() instead to fix the issue. It is safe because this
mutex is used to prevent races between VF related NDOs and
handlers processing request messages from VF and these handlers
are running in ice_service_task() context. Additionally move this
mutex lock prior ice_vc_is_opcode_allowed() call to avoid potential
races during allowlist access.

Currently, when debugging AF_XDP workloads, one can correlate the -ENXIO
return code as the case that XSK is not in the bound state. Returning
same code from ndo_xsk_wakeup can be misleading and simply makes it
harder to follow what is going on.
Change ENXIOs in ice's ndo_xsk_wakeup() implementation to EINVALs, so
that when probing it is clear that something is wrong on the driver
side, not the xsk_{recv,send}msg.
There is a -ENETDOWN that can happen from both kernel/driver sides
though, but I don't have a correct replacement for this on one of the
sides, so let's keep it that way.

When XSK pool uses need_wakeup feature, correlate -ENOBUFS that was
returned from xdp_do_redirect() with a XSK Rx queue being full. In such
case, terminate the Rx processing that is being done on the current HW
Rx ring and let the user space consume descriptors from XSK Rx queue so
that there is room that driver can use later on.
Introduce new internal return code ICE_XDP_EXIT that will indicate case
described above.
Note that it does not affect Tx processing that is bound to the same
NAPI context, nor the other Rx rings.

ice_run_xdp_zc() suggests to compiler that XDP_REDIRECT is the most
probable action returned from BPF program that AF_XDP has in its
pipeline. Let's also bring this suggestion up to the callsite of
ice_run_xdp_zc() so that compiler will be able to generate more
optimized code which in turn will make branch predictor happy.

A memory chunk was allocated for orom_data in ice_get_orom_civd_data()
by vzmalloc(). But when ice_read_flash_module() fails, the allocated
memory is not freed, which will lead to a memory leak.
We can fix it by freeing the orom_data when ce_read_flash_module() fails.

Currently for !CONFIG_NET_SWITCHDEV kernel builds it is not possible to
create VFs properly as call to ice_eswitch_configure() returns
-EOPNOTSUPP for us. This is because CONFIG_ICE_SWITCHDEV depends on
CONFIG_NET_SWITCHDEV.
Change the ice_eswitch_configure() implementation for
!CONFIG_ICE_SWITCHDEV to return 0 instead -EOPNOTSUPP and let
ice_ena_vfs() finish its work properly.

__ice_alloc_rx_bufs_zc() checks if a number of the descriptors to be
allocated would cause the ring wrap. In that case, driver will issue two
calls to xsk_buff_alloc_batch() - one that will fill the ring up to the
end and the second one that will start with filling descriptors from the
beginning of the ring.
ice_fill_rx_descs() is a wrapper for taking care of what
xsk_buff_alloc_batch() gave back to the driver. It works in a best
effort approach, so for example when driver asks for 64 buffers,
ice_fill_rx_descs() could assign only 32. Such case needs to be checked
when ring is being filled up to the end, because in that situation ntu
might not reached the end of the ring.
Fix the ring wrap by checking if nb_buffs_extra has the expected value.
If not, bump ntu and go directly to tail update.

This is due to that free_irq_cpu_rmap() is always being called
*after* (devm_)free_irq() and thus it tries to work with IRQ descs
already freed. For example, on device reset the driver frees the
rmap right before allocating a new one (the splat above).
Make rmap creation and freeing function symmetrical with
{request,free}_irq() calls i.e. do that on ifup/ifdown instead
of device probe/remove/resume. These operations can be performed
independently from the actual device aRFS configuration.
Also, make sure ice_vsi_free_irq() clears IRQ affinity notifiers
only when aRFS is disabled -- otherwise, CPU rmap sets and clears
its own and they must not be touched manually.

Trade text size for rodata size and replace tons of nested if-elses
to the const mask match based structs. The almost entire
ice_find_dummy_packet() now becomes just one plain while-increment
loop. The order in ice_dummy_pkt_profiles[] should be same with the
if-elses order previously, as masks become less and less strict
through the array to follow the original code flow.
Apart from removing 80 locs of 4-level if-elses, it brings a solid
text size optimization:

minified to improve readability and simplify adding new templates.
Move all the repetitive constructions into two macros and let them
do the name and type expansions.
Linewrap removal is yet another positive side effect.

ice_find_dummy_packet() contains a lot of boilerplate code and a
nice room for copy-paste mistakes.
Instead of passing 3 separate pointers back and forth to get packet
template (dummy) params, directly return a structure containing
them. Then, use a macro to compose compound literals and avoid code
duplication on return path.
Now, dummy packet type/name is needed only once to return a full
correct triple pkt-pkt_len-offsets, and those are all one-liners.
dummy_ipv4_gtpu_ipv4_packet_offsets is just moved around and renamed
(as well as dummy_ipv6_gtp_packet_offsets) with no function changes.

Replace two identical cast-deferences with a variable. Replace three
struct-member-array-accesses with a variable. Invert the condition,

ice_adv_lkup_elem fields h_u and m_u are being accessed as raw u16
arrays in several places.
To reduce cast and braces burden, add permanent array-of-u16 aliases
with the same size as the `union ice_prot_hdr` itself via anonymous
unions to the actual struct declaration, and just access them
directly.
This:
- removes the need to cast the union to u16[] and then dereference
it each time -> reduces the horizon for potential bugs;
- improves -Warray-bounds coverage -- the array size is now known
at compilation time;
- addresses cppcheck complaints.

Currently when XDP rings are created, each descriptor gets its DD bit
set, which turns out to be the wrong approach as it can lead to a
situation where more descriptors get cleaned than it was supposed to,
e.g. when AF_XDP busy poll is run with a large batch size. In this
situation, the driver would request for more buffers than it is able to
handle.
Fix this by not setting the DD bits in ice_xdp_alloc_setup_rings(). They
should be initialized to zero instead.

Unfortunately, the ice driver doesn't respect the RCU critical section that
XSK wakeup is surrounded with. To fix this, add synchronize_rcu() calls to
paths that destroy resources that might be in use.
This was addressed in other AF_XDP ZC enabled drivers, for reference see
for example commit b3873a5be7 ("net/i40e: Fix concurrency issues
between config flow and XSK")

Disable check for queue being enabled in ice_vc_dis_qs_msg, because
there could be a case when queues were created, but were not enabled.
We still need to delete those queues.
Normal workflow for VF looks like:
Enable path:
VIRTCHNL_OP_ADD_ETH_ADDR (opcode 10)
VIRTCHNL_OP_CONFIG_VSI_QUEUES (opcode 6)
VIRTCHNL_OP_ENABLE_QUEUES (opcode 8)
Disable path:
VIRTCHNL_OP_DISABLE_QUEUES (opcode 9)
VIRTCHNL_OP_DEL_ETH_ADDR (opcode 11)
The issue appears only in stress conditions when VF is enabled and
disabled very fast.
Eventually there will be a case, when queues are created by
VIRTCHNL_OP_CONFIG_VSI_QUEUES, but are not enabled by
VIRTCHNL_OP_ENABLE_QUEUES.
In turn, these queues are not deleted by VIRTCHNL_OP_DISABLE_QUEUES,
because there is a check whether queues are enabled in
ice_vc_dis_qs_msg.
When we bring up the VF again, we will see the "Failed to set LAN Tx queue
context" error during VIRTCHNL_OP_CONFIG_VSI_QUEUES step. This
happens because old 16 queues were not deleted and VF requests to create
16 more, but ice_sched_get_free_qparent in ice_ena_vsi_txq would fail to
find a parent node for first newly requested queue (because all nodes
are allocated to 16 old queues).
Testing Hints:
Just enable and disable VF fast enough, so it would be disabled before
reaching VIRTCHNL_OP_ENABLE_QUEUES.

When VF is freshly created, but not brought up, ring->txq_teid
value is by default set to 0.
But 0 is a valid TEID. On some platforms the Root Node of
Tx scheduler has a TEID = 0. This can cause issues as shown below.
The proper way is to set ring->txq_teid to ICE_INVAL_TEID (0xFFFFFFFF).
Testing Hints:

If we have freshly created VF and quickly turn it on and off, so there
would be no time to reach VIRTCHNL_OP_CONFIG_VSI_QUEUES stage, then
VIRTCHNL_OP_DISABLE_QUEUES stage will fail with error:

The reason for the fail is that we are trying to send AQ command to
delete queue 89, which has never been created and receive an "invalid
argument" error from firmware.
As this queue has never been created, it's teid and ring->txq_teid
have default value 0.
ice_dis_vsi_txq has a check against non-existent queues:

But on some platforms the Root Node of Tx scheduler has a teid = 0.
Hence, ice_sched_find_node_by_teid finds a node with teid = 0 (it is
pi->root), and we go further to submit an erroneous request to firmware.

Handling of all-multicast flag and associated multicast promiscuous
mode is broken in ice driver. When an user switches allmulticast
flag on or off the driver checks whether any VLANs are configured
over the interface (except default VLAN 0).
If any extra VLANs are registered it enables multicast promiscuous
mode for all these VLANs (including default VLAN 0) using
ICE_SW_LKUP_PROMISC_VLAN look-up type. In this situation all
multicast packets tagged with known VLAN ID or untagged are received
and multicast packets tagged with unknown VLAN ID ignored.
If no extra VLANs are registered (so only VLAN 0 exists) it enables
multicast promiscuous mode for VLAN 0 and uses ICE_SW_LKUP_PROMISC
look-up type. In this situation any multicast packets including
tagged ones are received.
The driver handles IFF_ALLMULTI in ice_vsi_sync_fltr() this way:

The code above depends on value vsi->num_vlan that specifies number
of VLANs configured over the interface (including VLAN 0) and
this is problem because that value is modified in NDO callbacks
ice_vlan_rx_add_vid() and ice_vlan_rx_kill_vid().
Scenario 1:

2. ip link add vlan10 link ens7f0 type vlan id 10
3. ip link set ens7f0 allmulticast off
4. ip link set ens7f0 allmulticast on
[1] In this scenario IFF_ALLMULTI is enabled and the driver calls
ice_set_promisc(..., ICE_MCAST_PROMISC_BITS) that installs
multicast promisc rule with non-VLAN look-up type.
[2] Then VLAN with ID 10 is added and vsi->num_vlan incremented to 2
[3] Command switches IFF_ALLMULTI off and the driver calls
ice_clear_promisc(..., ICE_MCAST_VLAN_PROMISC_BITS) but this
call is effectively NOP because it looks for multicast promisc
rules for VLAN 0 and VLAN 10 with VLAN look-up type but no such
rules exist. So the all-multicast remains enabled silently
in hardware.
[4] Command tries to switch IFF_ALLMULTI on and the driver calls
ice_clear_promisc(..., ICE_MCAST_PROMISC_BITS) but this call
fails (-EEXIST) because non-VLAN multicast promisc rule already
exists.
Scenario 2:
1. ip link add vlan10 link ens7f0 type vlan id 10
2. ip link set ens7f0 allmulticast on
3. ip link add vlan20 link ens7f0 type vlan id 20
4. ip link del vlan10 ; ip link del vlan20
5. ip link set ens7f0 allmulticast off
[1] VLAN with ID 10 is added and vsi->num_vlan==2
[2] Command switches IFF_ALLMULTI on and driver installs multicast
promisc rules with VLAN look-up type for VLAN 0 and 10
[3] VLAN with ID 20 is added and vsi->num_vlan==3 but no multicast
promisc rules is added for this new VLAN so the interface does
not receive MC packets from VLAN 20
[4] Both VLANs are removed but multicast rule for VLAN 10 remains
installed so interface receives multicast packets from VLAN 10
[5] Command switches IFF_ALLMULTI off and because vsi->num_vlan is 1
the driver tries to remove multicast promisc rule for VLAN 0
with non-VLAN look-up that does not exist.
All-multicast looks disabled from user point of view but it
is partially enabled in HW (interface receives all multicast
packets either untagged or tagged with VLAN ID 10)
To resolve these issues the patch introduces these changes:
1. Adds handling for IFF_ALLMULTI to ice_vlan_rx_add_vid() and
ice_vlan_rx_kill_vid() callbacks. So when VLAN is added/removed
and IFF_ALLMULTI is enabled an appropriate multicast promisc
rule for that VLAN ID is added/removed.
2. In ice_vlan_rx_add_vid() when first VLAN besides VLAN 0 is added
so (vsi->num_vlan == 2) and IFF_ALLMULTI is enabled then look-up
type for existing multicast promisc rule for VLAN 0 is updated
to ICE_MCAST_VLAN_PROMISC_BITS.
3. In ice_vlan_rx_kill_vid() when last VLAN besides VLAN 0 is removed
so (vsi->num_vlan == 1) and IFF_ALLMULTI is enabled then look-up
type for existing multicast promisc rule for VLAN 0 is updated
to ICE_MCAST_PROMISC_BITS.
4. Both ice_vlan_rx_{add,kill}_vid() have to run under ICE_CFG_BUSY
bit protection to avoid races with ice_vsi_sync_fltr() that runs
in ice_service_task() context.
5. Bit ICE_VSI_VLAN_FLTR_CHANGED is use-less and can be removed.
6. Error messages added to ice_fltr_*_vsi_promisc() helper functions
to avoid them in their callers
7. Small improvements to increase readability

Commit 2ccc1c1ccc ("ice: Remove excess error variables") merged
the usage of 'status' and 'err' variables into single one in
function ice_set_mac_address(). Unfortunately this causes
a regression when call of ice_fltr_add_mac() returns -EEXIST because
this return value does not indicate an error in this case but
value of 'err' remains to be -EEXIST till the end of the function
and is returned to caller.
Prior mentioned commit this does not happen because return value of
ice_fltr_add_mac() was stored to 'status' variable first and
if it was -EEXIST then 'err' remains to be zero.
Fix the problem by reset 'err' to zero when ice_fltr_add_mac()
returns -EEXIST.

VSI is set as default forwarding one when promisc mode is set for
PF interface, when PF is switched to switchdev mode or when VF
driver asks to enable allmulticast or promisc mode for the VF
interface (when vf-true-promisc-support priv flag is off).
The third case is buggy because in that case VSI associated with
VF remains as default one after VF removal.
Reproducer:
1. Create VF
echo 1 > sys/class/net/ens7f0/device/sriov_numvfs
2. Enable allmulticast or promisc mode on VF
ip link set ens7f0v0 allmulticast on
ip link set ens7f0v0 promisc on
3. Delete VF
echo 0 > sys/class/net/ens7f0/device/sriov_numvfs
4. Try to enable promisc mode on PF
ip link set ens7f0 promisc on
Although it looks that promisc mode on PF is enabled the opposite
is true because ice_vsi_sync_fltr() responsible for IFF_PROMISC
handling first checks if any other VSI is set as default forwarding
one and if so the function does not do anything. At this point
it is not possible to enable promisc mode on PF without re-probe
device.
To resolve the issue this patch clear default forwarding VSI
during ice_vsi_release() when the VSI to be released is the default
one.

Ice driver tries to always create XDP rings array to be
num_possible_cpus() sized, regardless of user's queue count setting that
can be changed via ethtool -L for example.
Currently, ice_tx_xsk_pool() calculates the qid by decrementing the
ring->q_index by the count of XDP queues, but ring->q_index is set to 'i
+ vsi->alloc_txq'.
When user did ethtool -L $IFACE combined 1, alloc_txq is 1, but
vsi->num_xdp_txq is still num_possible_cpus(). Then, ice_tx_xsk_pool()
will do OOB access and in the final result ring would not get xsk_pool
pointer assigned. Then, each ice_xsk_wakeup() call will fail with error
and it will not be possible to get into NAPI and do the processing from
driver side.
Fix this by decrementing vsi->alloc_txq instead of vsi->num_xdp_txq from
ring-q_index in ice_tx_xsk_pool() so the calculation is reflected to the
setting of ring->q_index.

This can happen with big budget values and some breakage of re-filling
descriptors as we do not clear the entry that ntu is pointing at the end
of ice_alloc_rx_bufs_zc. So if ntc is at ntu then it might be the case
that status_error0 has an old, uncleared value and ntc would go over
with processing which would result in false results.
Break Rx loop when ntc == ntu to avoid broken behavior.

The NIC Tx ring completion routine cleans entries from the ring in
batches. However, it processes one more batch than it is supposed
to. Note that this does not matter from a functionality point of view
since it will not find a set DD bit for the next batch and just exit
the loop. But from a performance perspective, it is faster to
terminate the loop before and not issue an expensive read over PCIe to
get the DD bit.

ice_send_event_to_aux() eventually descends to mutex_lock()
(-> might_sched()), so it must not be called under non-task
context. However, at least two fixes have happened already for the
bug splats occurred due to this function being called from atomic
context.
To make the emergency landings softer, bail out early when executed
in non-task context emitting a warn splat only once. This way we
trade some events being potentially lost for system stability and
avoid any related hangs and crashes.

Add a new PF state bit which indicates that an aux critical error
occurred and serve it in ice_service_task() in process context.
The new ice_pf::oicr_err_reg is read-write in both hardirq and

byte [31:24]).

We've previously run into many issues related to the latency of a Tx
timestamp completion with the ice hardware. It can be difficult to
determine the root cause of a slow Tx timestamp. To aid in this,
introduce new trace events which capture timing data about when the
driver reaches certain points while processing a transmit timestamp
* ice_tx_tstamp_request: Trace when the stack initiates a new timestamp
request.
* ice_tx_tstamp_fw_req: Trace when the driver begins a read of the
timestamp register in the work thread.
* ice_tx_tstamp_fw_done: Trace when the driver finishes reading a
timestamp register in the work thread.
* ice_tx_tstamp_complete: Trace when the driver submits the skb back to
the stack with a completed Tx timestamp.
These trace events can be enabled using the standard trace event
subsystem exposed by the ice driver. If they are disabled, they become
no-ops with no run time cost.
The following is a simple GNU AWK script which can highlight one
potential way to use the trace events to capture latency data from the
trace buffer about how long the driver takes to process a timestamp:

It is possible to do NULL pointer dereference in routine that updates
Tx ring stats. Currently only stats and bytes are updated when ring
pointer is valid, but later on ring is accessed to propagate gathered Tx
stats onto VSI stats.
Change the existing logic to move to next ring when ring is NULL.

The ice_check_vf_init function takes both a PF and a VF pointer. Every
caller looks up the PF pointer from the VF structure. Some callers only
use of the PF pointer is call this function. Move the lookup inside
ice_check_vf_init and drop the unnecessary argument.
Cleanup the callers to drop the now unnecessary local variables. In
particular, replace the local PF pointer with a HW structure pointer in
ice_vc_get_vf_res_msg which simplifies a few accesses to the HW
structure in that function.

The ice_reset_vf function performs actions which must be taken only
while holding the VF configuration lock. Some flows already acquired the
lock, while other flows must acquire it just for the reset function. Add
the ICE_VF_RESET_LOCK flag to the function so that it can handle taking
and releasing the lock instead at the appropriate scope.

In some cases of resetting a VF, the PF would like to first notify the
VF that a reset is impending. This is currently done via
ice_vc_notify_vf_reset. A wrapper to ice_reset_vf, ice_vf_reset_vf, is
used to call this function first before calling ice_reset_vf.
In fact, every single call to ice_vc_notify_vf_reset occurs just prior
to a call to ice_vc_reset_vf.
Now that ice_reset_vf has flags, replace this separate call with an
ICE_VF_RESET_NOTIFY flag. This removes an unnecessary exported function
of ice_vc_notify_vf_reset, and also makes there be a single function to
reset VFs (ice_reset_vf).

The ice_reset_vf function takes a boolean parameter which indicates
whether or not the reset is due to a VFLR event.
This is somewhat confusing to read because readers must interpret what
"true" and "false" mean when seeing a line of code like
"ice_reset_vf(vf, false)".
We will want to add another toggle to the ice_reset_vf in a following
change. To avoid proliferating many arguments, convert this function to
take flags instead. ICE_VF_RESET_VFLR will indicate if this is a VFLR
reset. A value of 0 indicates no flags.
One could argue that "ice_reset_vf(vf, 0)" is no more readable than
"ice_reset_vf(vf, false)".. However, this type of flags interface is
somewhat common and using 0 to mean "no flags" makes sense in this
context. We could bother to add a define for "ICE_VF_RESET_PLAIN" or
something similar, but this can be confusing since its not an actual bit
flag.
This paves the way to add another flag to the function in a following
change.

The ice_reset_vf function returns a boolean value indicating whether or
not the VF reset. This is a bit confusing since it means that callers
need to know how to interpret the return value when needing to indicate
an error.
Refactor the function and call sites to report a regular error code. We
still report success (i.e. return 0) in cases where the reset is in
progress or is disabled.
Existing callers don't care because they do not check the return value.
We keep the error code anyways instead of a void return because we
expect future code which may care about or at least report the error
value.

The ice driver currently supports virtualization using Single Root IOV,
with code in the ice_sriov.c file. In the future, we plan to also
implement support for Scalable IOV, which uses slightly different
hardware implementations for some functionality.
To eventually allow this, we introduce a new ice_vf_ops structure which
will contain the basic operations that are different between the two IOV
implementations. This primarily includes logic for how to handle the VF
reset registers, as well as what to do before and after rebuilding the
VF's VSI.
Implement these ops structures and call the ops table instead of
directly calling the SR-IOV specific function. This will allow us to
easily add the Scalable IOV implementation in the future. Additionally,
it helps separate the generalized VF logic from SR-IOV specifics. This
change allows us to move the reset logic out of ice_sriov.c and into
ice_vf_lib.c without placing any Single Root specific details into the
generic file.

If we fail to clear the malicious VF indication after a VF reset, the

Introduce the ice_vf_lib.c file along with the ice_vf_lib.h and
ice_vf_lib_private.h header files.
These files will house the generic VF structures and access functions.
Move struct ice_vf and its dependent definitions into this new header
file.
The ice_vf_lib.c is compiled conditionally on CONFIG_PCI_IOV. Some of
its functionality is required by all driver files. However, some of its
functionality will only be required by other files also conditionally
compiled based on CONFIG_PCI_IOV.
Declaring these functions used only in CONFIG_PCI_IOV files in
ice_vf_lib.h is verbose. This is because we must provide a fallback
implementation for each function in this header since it is included in
files which may not be compiled with CONFIG_PCI_IOV.
Instead, introduce a new ice_vf_lib_private.h header which verifies that
CONFIG_PCI_IOV is enabled. This header is intended to be directly
included in .c files which are CONFIG_PCI_IOV only. Add a #error
indication that will complain if the file ever gets included by another
C file on a kernel with CONFIG_PCI_IOV disabled. Add a comment
indicating the nature of the file and why it is useful.
This makes it so that we can easily define functions exposed from
ice_vf_lib.c into other virtualization files without needing to add
fallback implementations for every single function.
This begins the path to separate out generic code which will be reused
by other virtualization implementations from ice_sriov.h and ice_sriov.c

The ice_vc_cfg_promiscuous_mode_msg function directly checks
ICE_VIRTCHNL_VF_CAP_PRIVILEGE, instead of using the existing helper
function ice_is_vf_trusted. Switch this to use the helper function so
that all trusted checks are consistent. This aids in any potential
future refactor by ensuring consistent code.

The ice_ena_vfs function and some of its sub-functions like
ice_set_per_vf_res use a "if (<function>) { <print error> ; <exit> }"
flow. This flow discards specialized errors reported by the called
function.
This style is generally not preferred as it makes tracing error sources
more difficult. It also means we cannot log the actual error received
properly.
Refactor several calls in the ice_ena_vfs function that do this to catch
the error in the 'ret' variable. Report this in the messages, and then
return the more precise error value.
Doing this reveals that ice_set_per_vf_res returns -EINVAL or -EIO in
places where -ENOSPC makes more sense. Fix these calls up to return the
more appropriate value.

The API to control the VSI spoof checking for a VF VSI has three
functions: enable, disable, and set. The set function takes the VSI and
the VF and decides whether to call enable or disable based on the
vf->spoofchk field.
In some flows, vf->spoofchk is not yet set, such as the function used to
control the setting for a VF. (vf->spoofchk is only updated after a
success).
Simplify this API by refactoring ice_vf_set_spoofchk_cfg to be
"ice_vsi_apply_spoofchk" which takes the boolean and allows all callers
to avoid having to determine whether to call enable or disable
themselves.
This matches the expected callers better, and will prevent the need to
export more than one function when this code must be called from another
file.

The vc_ops structure is used to allow different handlers for virtchnl
commands when the driver is in representor mode. The current
implementation uses a copy of the ops table in each VF, and modifies
this copy dynamically.
The usual practice in kernel code is to store the ops table in a
constant structure and point to different versions. This has a number of
advantages:
1. Reduced memory usage. Each VF merely points to the correct table,
so they're able to re-use the same constant lookup table in memory.
2. Consistency. It becomes more difficult to accidentally update or
edit only one op call. Instead, the code switches to the correct
able by a single pointer write. In general this is atomic, either
the pointer is updated or its not.
3. Code Layout. The VF structure can store a pointer to the table
without needing to have the full structure definition defined prior
to the VF structure definition. This will aid in future refactoring
of code by allowing the VF pointer to be kept in ice_vf_lib.h while
the virtchnl ops table can be maintained in ice_virtchnl.h
There is one major downside in the case of the vc_ops structure. Most of
the operations in the table are the same between the two current
implementations. This can appear to lead to duplication since each
implementation must now fill in the complete table. It could make
spotting the differences in the representor mode more challenging.
Unfortunately, methods to make this less error prone either add
complexity overhead (macros using CPP token concatenation) or don't work
on all compilers we support (constant initializer from another constant
structure).
The cost of maintaining two structures does not out weigh the benefits
of the constant table model.
While we're making these changes, go ahead and rename the structure and
implementations with "virtchnl" instead of "vc_vf_". This will more
closely align with the planned file renaming, and avoid similar names when
we later introduce a "vf ops" table for separating Scalable IOV and
Single Root IOV implementations.
Leave the accessor/assignment functions in order to avoid issues with
compiling with options disabled. The interface makes it easier to handle
when CONFIG_PCI_IOV is disabled in the kernel.

Several headers in the ice driver include ice.h even though they are
themselves included by that header. The most notable of these is
ice_common.h, but several other headers also do this.
Such a recursive inclusion is problematic as it forces headers to be
included in a strict order, otherwise compilation errors can result. The
circular inclusions do not trigger an endless loop due to standard
header inclusion guards, however other errors can occur.
For example, ice_flow.h defines ice_rss_hash_cfg, which is used by
ice_sriov.h as part of the definition of ice_vf_hash_ip_ctx.
ice_flow.h includes ice_acl.h, which includes ice_common.h, and which
finally includes ice.h. Since ice.h itself includes ice_sriov.h, this
creates a circular dependency.
The definition in ice_sriov.h requires things from ice_flow.h, but
ice_flow.h itself will lead to trying to load ice_sriov.h as part of its
process for expanding ice.h. The current code avoids this issue by
having an implicit dependency without the include of ice_flow.h.
If we were to fix that so that ice_sriov.h explicitly depends on
ice_flow.h the following pattern would occur:
ice_flow.h -> ice_acl.h -> ice_common.h -> ice.h -> ice_sriov.h
At this point, during the expansion of, the header guard for ice_flow.h
is already set, so when ice_sriov.h attempts to load the ice_flow.h
header it is skipped. Then, we go on to begin including the rest of
ice_sriov.h, including structure definitions which depend on
ice_rss_hash_cfg. This produces a compiler warning because
ice_rss_hash_cfg hasn't yet been included. Remember, we're just at the
start of ice_flow.h!
If the order of headers is incorrect (ice_flow.h is not implicitly
loaded first in all files which include ice_sriov.h) then we get the
same failure.
Removing this recursive inclusion requires fixing a few cases where some
headers depended on the header inclusions from ice.h. In addition, a few
other changes are also required.
Most notably, ice_hw_to_dev is implemented as a macro in ice_osdep.h,
which is the likely reason that ice_common.h includes ice.h at all. This
macro implementation requires the full definition of ice_pf in order to
properly compile.
Fix this by moving it to a function declared in ice_main.c, so that we
do not require all files to depend on the layout of the ice_pf
structure.
Note that this change only fixes circular dependencies, but it does not
fully resolve all implicit dependencies where one header may depend on
the inclusion of another. I tried to fix as many of the implicit
dependencies as I noticed, but fixing them all requires a somewhat
tedious analysis of each header and attempting to compile it separately.

The ice_virtchnl_pf.c and ice_virtchnl_pf.h files are where most of the
code for implementing Single Root IOV virtualization resides. This code
includes support for bringing up and tearing down VFs, hooks into the
kernel SR-IOV netdev operations, and for handling virtchnl messages from
VFs.
In the future, we plan to support Scalable IOV in addition to Single
Root IOV as an alternative virtualization scheme. This implementation
will re-use some but not all of the code in ice_virtchnl_pf.c
To prepare for this future, we want to refactor and split up the code in
ice_virtchnl_pf.c into the following scheme:
* ice_vf_lib.[ch]
Basic VF structures and accessors. This is where scheme-independent
code will reside.
* ice_virtchnl.[ch]
Virtchnl message handling. This is where the bulk of the logic for
processing messages from VFs using the virtchnl messaging scheme will
reside. This is separated from ice_vf_lib.c because it is distinct
and has a bulk of the processing code.
* ice_sriov.[ch]
Single Root IOV implementation, including initialization and the
routines for interacting with SR-IOV based netdev operations.
* (future) ice_siov.[ch]
Scalable IOV implementation.
As a first step, lets assume that all of the code in
ice_virtchnl_pf.[ch] is for Single Root IOV. Rename this file to
ice_sriov.c and its header to ice_sriov.h
Future changes will further split out the code in these files following
the plan outlined here.

The ice_sriov.c file primarily contains code which handles the logic for
mailbox overflow detection and some other utility functions related to
the virtualization mailbox.
The bulk of the SR-IOV implementation is actually found in
ice_virtchnl_pf.c, and this file isn't strictly SR-IOV specific.
In the future, the ice driver will support an additional virtualization
scheme known as Scalable IOV, and the code in this file will be used
for this alternative implementation.
Rename this file (and its associated header) to ice_vf_mbx.c, so that we
can later re-use the ice_sriov.c file as the SR-IOV specific file.

Add support for creating filters for GTP-U and GTP-C in switchdev mode. Add
support for parsing GTP-specific options (QFI and PDU type) and TEID.
By default, a filter for GTP-U will be added. To add a filter for GTP-C,
specify enc_dst_port = 2123, e.g.:
tc filter add dev $GTP0 ingress prio 1 flower enc_key_id 1337 \
enc_dst_port 2123 action mirred egress redirect dev $VF1_PR
Note: GTP-U with outer IPv6 offload is not supported yet.

Checking only protocol ids while searching for correct FVs can lead to a
situation, when incorrect FV will be added to the list. Incorrect means
that FV has correct protocol id but incorrect offset.
Call ice_get_sw_fv_list with ice_prot_lkup_ext struct which contains all
protocol ids with offsets.
With this modification allocating and collecting protocol ids list is
not longer needed.

Commit 5dbbbd01cb ("ice: Avoid RTNL lock when re-creating
auxiliary device") changes a process of re-creation of aux device
so ice_plug_aux_dev() is called from ice_service_task() context.
This unfortunately opens a race window that can result in dead-lock
when interface has left LAG and immediately enters LAG again.

1. Command 'ip link ... set nomaster' causes that ice_plug_aux_dev()
is called from ice_service_task() context, aux device is created
and associated device->lock is taken.
2. Command 'ip link ... set master...' calls ice's notifier under
RTNL lock and that notifier calls ice_unplug_aux_dev(). That
function tries to take aux device->lock but this is already taken
by ice_plug_aux_dev() in step 1
3. Later ice_plug_aux_dev() tries to take RTNL lock but this is already
taken in step 2
4. Dead-lock
The patch fixes this issue by following changes:
- Bit ICE_FLAG_PLUG_AUX_DEV is kept to be set during ice_plug_aux_dev()
call in ice_service_task()
- The bit is checked in ice_clear_rdma_cap() and only if it is not set
then ice_unplug_aux_dev() is called. If it is set (in other words
plugging of aux device was requested and ice_plug_aux_dev() is
potentially running) then the function only clears the bit
- Once ice_plug_aux_dev() call (in ice_service_task) is finished
the bit ICE_FLAG_PLUG_AUX_DEV is cleared but it is also checked
whether it was already cleared by ice_clear_rdma_cap(). If so then
aux device is unplugged.

TC flower does not support matching on user specified
outer MAC address for tunnels. For ADQ tunnels, the driver
adds outer destination MAC address as lower netdev's
active unicast MAC address to filter out packets with
unrelated MAC address being delivered to ADQ VSIs.
Example:
- create tunnel device

Commit 9610bd988d ("ice: optimize XDP_TX workloads") introduced Tx IRQ
cleaning routine dedicated for XDP rings. Currently it is impossible to
call ice_clean_tx_irq() against XDP ring, so it is safe to drop
ice_ring_is_xdp() calls in there.

In the case where the link is owned by manageability, the firmware is
not allowed to set the link state, so an error code is returned.
This however is non-fatal and there is nothing the operator can do,
so instead of confusing the operator with messages they can do nothing
about hide this message behind the debug log level.

Implement callbacks to check for stats and fetch port representor stats.
Stats are taken from RX/TX ring corresponding to port representor and show
the number of bytes/packets that were not offloaded.
To see slow path stats run:

Change curr_link_speed advertised speed, due to
link_info.link_speed is not equal phy.curr_user_speed_req.
Without this patch it is impossible to set advertised
speed to same as link_speed.
Testing Hints: Try to set advertised speed
to 25G only with 25G default link (use ethtool -s 0x80000000)

When a bonded interface is destroyed, .ndo_change_mtu can be called
during the tear-down process while the RTNL lock is held. This is a
problem since the auxiliary driver linked to the LAN driver needs to be
notified of the MTU change, and this requires grabbing a device_lock on
the auxiliary_device's dev. Currently this is being attempted in the
same execution context as the call to .ndo_change_mtu which is causing a
dead-lock.
Move the notification of the changed MTU to a separate execution context
(watchdog service task) and eliminate the "before" notification.

The ice_vc_send_msg_to_vf function has logic to detect "failure"
responses being sent to a VF. If a VF is sent more than
ICE_DFLT_NUM_INVAL_MSGS_ALLOWED then the VF is marked as disabled.
Almost identical logic also existed in the i40e driver.
This logic was added to the ice driver in commit 1071a8358a ("ice:
Implement virtchnl commands for AVF support") which itself copied from
the i40e implementation in commit 5c3c48ac6b ("i40e: implement virtual
device interface").
Neither commit provides a proper explanation or justification of the
check. In fact, later commits to i40e changed the logic to allow
bypassing the check in some specific instances.
The "logic" for this seems to be that error responses somehow indicate a
malicious VF. This is not really true. The PF might be sending an error
for any number of reasons such as lack of resources, etc.
Additionally, this causes the PF to log an info message for every failed
VF response which may confuse users, and can spam the kernel log.
This behavior is not documented as part of any requirement for our
products and other operating system drivers such as the FreeBSD
implementation of our drivers do not include this type of check.
In fact, the change from dev_err to dev_info in i40e commit 18b7af57d9
("i40e: Lower some message levels") explains that these messages
typically don't actually indicate a real issue. It is quite likely that
a user who hits this in practice will be very confused as the VF will be
disabled without an obvious way to recover.
We already have robust malicious driver detection logic using actual
hardware detection mechanisms that detect and prevent invalid device
usage. Remove the logic since its not a documented requirement and the
behavior is not intuitive.

Pragma unroll was introduced around GCC 8, whereas current xsk code in
ice that prepares loop_unrolled_for macro that is based on mentioned
pragma, compares GCC version against 4, which is wrong and Stephen
found this out by compiling kernel with GCC 5.4 [0].
Fix this mistake and check if GCC version is >= 8.

The ice driver stores VF structures in a simple array which is allocated
once at the time of VF creation. The VF structures are then accessed
from the array by their VF ID. The ID must be between 0 and the number
of allocated VFs.
Multiple threads can access this table:
* .ndo operations such as .ndo_get_vf_cfg or .ndo_set_vf_trust
* interrupts, such as due to messages from the VF using the virtchnl
communication
* processing such as device reset
* commands to add or remove VFs
The current implementation does not keep track of when all threads are
done operating on a VF and can potentially result in use-after-free
issues caused by one thread accessing a VF structure after it has been
released when removing VFs. Some of these are prevented with various
state flags and checks.
In addition, this structure is quite static and does not support a
planned future where virtualization can be more dynamic. As we begin to
look at supporting Scalable IOV with the ice driver (as opposed to just
supporting Single Root IOV), this structure is not sufficient.
In the future, VFs will be able to be added and removed individually and
dynamically.
To allow for this, and to better protect against a whole class of
use-after-free bugs, replace the VF storage with a combination of a hash
table and krefs to reference track all of the accesses to VFs through
the hash table.
A hash table still allows efficient look up of the VF given its ID, but
also allows adding and removing VFs. It does not require contiguous VF
IDs.
The use of krefs allows the cleanup of the VF memory to be delayed until
after all threads have released their reference (by calling ice_put_vf).
To prevent corruption of the hash table, a combination of RCU and the
mutex table_lock are used. Addition and removal from the hash table use
the RCU-aware hash macros. This allows simple read-only look ups that
iterate to locate a single VF can be fast using RCU. Accesses which
modify the hash table, or which can't take RCU because they sleep, will
hold the mutex lock.
By using this design, we have a stronger guarantee that the VF structure
can't be released until after all threads are finished operating on it.
We also pave the way for the more dynamic Scalable IOV implementation in
the future.

Before we switch the VF data structure storage mechanism to a hash,
introduce new accessor functions to define the new interface.
* ice_get_vf_by_id is a function used to obtain a reference to a VF from
the table based on its VF ID
* ice_has_vfs is used to quickly check if any VFs are configured
* ice_get_num_vfs is used to get an exact count of how many VFs are
configured
We can drop the old ice_validate_vf_id function, since every caller was
just going to immediately access the VF table to get a reference
anyways. This way we simply use the single ice_get_vf_by_id to both
validate the VF ID is within range and that there exists a VF with that
ID.
This change enables us to more easily convert the codebase to the hash
table since most callers now properly use the interface.

We maintain a number of values for VFs within the ice_pf structure. This
includes the VF table, the number of allocated VFs, the maximum number
of supported SR-IOV VFs, the number of queue pairs per VF, the number of
MSI-X vectors per VF, and a bitmap of the VFs with detected MDD events.
We're about to add a few more variables to this list. Clean this up
first by extracting these members out into a new ice_vfs structure
defined in ice_virtchnl_pf.h

The ice_for_each_vf macro is intended to be used to loop over all VFs.
The current implementation relies on an iterator that is the index into
the VF array in the PF structure. This forces all users to perform a
look up themselves.
This abstraction forces a lot of duplicate work on callers and leaks the
interface implementation to the caller. Replace this with an
implementation that includes the VF pointer the primary iterator. This
version simplifies callers which just want to iterate over every VF, as
they no longer need to perform their own lookup.
The "i" iterator value is replaced with a new unsigned int "bkt"
parameter, as this will match the necessary interface for replacing
the VF array with a hash table. For now, the bkt is the VF ID, but in
the future it will simply be the hash bucket index. Document that it
should not be treated as a VF ID.
This change aims to simplify switching from the array to a hash table. I
considered alternative implementations such as an xarray but decided
that the hash table was the simplest and most suitable implementation. I
also looked at methods to hide the bkt iterator entirely, but I couldn't
come up with a feasible solution that worked for hash table iterators.

When removing VFs, the driver takes a weird approach of assigning
pf->num_alloc_vfs to 0 before iterating over the VFs using a temporary
variable.
This logic has been in the driver for a long time, and seems to have
been carried forward from i40e.
We want to refactor the way VFs are stored, and iterating over the data
structure without the ice_for_each_vf interface impedes this work.
The logic relies on implicitly using the num_alloc_vfs as a sort of
"safe guard" for accessing VF data.
While this sort of guard makes sense for Single Root IOV where all VFs
are added at once, the data structures don't work for VFs which can be
added and removed dynamically. We also have a separate state flag,
ICE_VF_DEINIT_IN_PROGRESS which is a stronger protection against
concurrent removal and access.
Avoid the custom tmp iteration and replace it with the standard
ice_for_each_vf iterator. Delay the assignment of num_alloc_vfs until
after this loop finishes.

The ice_vc_send_msg_to_vf function is used by the PF to send a response
to a VF. This function has overzealous checks to ensure its not passed a
NULL VF pointer and to ensure that the passed in struct ice_vf has a
valid vf_id sub-member.
These checks have existed since commit 1071a8358a ("ice: Implement
virtchnl commands for AVF support") and function as simple sanity
checks.
We are planning to refactor the ice driver to use a hash table along
with appropriate locks in a future refactor. This change will modify how
the ice_validate_vf_id function works. Instead of a simple >= check to
ensure the VF ID is between some range, it will check the hash table to
see if the specified VF ID is actually in the table. This requires that
the function properly lock the table to prevent race conditions.
The checks may seem ok at first glance, but they don't really provide
much benefit.
In order for ice_vc_send_msg_to_vf to have these checks fail, the
callers must either (1) pass NULL as the VF, (2) construct an invalid VF
pointer manually, or (3) be using a VF pointer which becomes invalid
after they obtain it properly using ice_get_vf_by_id.
For (1), a cursory glance over callers of ice_vc_send_msg_to_vf can show
that in most cases the functions already operate assuming their VF
pointer is valid, such as by derferencing vf->pf or other members.
They obtain the VF pointer by accessing the VF array using the VF ID,
which can never produce a NULL value (since its a simple address
operation on the array it will not be NULL.
The sole exception for (1) is that ice_vc_process_vf_msg will forward a
NULL VF pointer to this function as part of its goto error handler
logic. This requires some minor cleanup to simply exit immediately when
an invalid VF ID is detected (Rather than use the same error flow as
the rest of the function).
For (2), it is unexpected for a flow to construct a VF pointer manually
instead of accessing the VF array. Defending against this is likely to
just hide bad programming.
For (3), it is definitely true that VF pointers could become invalid,
for example if a thread is processing a VF message while the VF gets
removed. However, the correct solution is not to add additional checks
like this which do not guarantee to prevent the race. Instead we plan to
solve the root of the problem by preventing the possibility entirely.
This solution will require the change to a hash table with proper
locking and reference counts of the VF structures. When this is done,
ice_validate_vf_id will require locking of the hash table. This will be
problematic because all of the callers of ice_vc_send_msg_to_vf will
already have to take the lock to obtain the VF pointer anyways. With a
mutex, this leads to a double lock that could hang the kernel thread.
Avoid this by removing the checks which don't provide much value, so
that we can safely add the necessary protections properly.
