41705c4262 fgraph: Pass ftrace_regs to entryfunc
Pass ftrace_regs to the fgraph_ops::entryfunc(). If ftrace_regs is not
available, it passes a NULL instead. User callback function can access
some registers (including return address) via this ftrace_regs.

Note that the ftrace_regs can be NULL when the arch does NOT define:
HAVE_DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_ARGS or HAVE_DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_REGS.
More specifically, if HAVE_DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_REGS is defined but
not the HAVE_DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_ARGS, and the ftrace ops used to
register the function callback does not set FTRACE_OPS_FL_SAVE_REGS.
In this case, ftrace_regs can be NULL in user callback.

0c3beacf68 asm-generic: introduce text-patching.h
Several architectures support text patching, but they name the header
files that declare patching functions differently.

Make all such headers consistently named text-patching.h and add an empty
header in asm-generic for architectures that do not support text patching.

7888af4166 ftrace: Make ftrace_regs abstract from direct use
ftrace_regs was created to hold registers that store information to save
function parameters, return value and stack. Since it is a subset of
pt_regs, it should only be used by its accessor functions. But because
pt_regs can easily be taken from ftrace_regs (on most archs), it is
tempting to use it directly. But when running on other architectures, it
may fail to build or worse, build but crash the kernel!

Instead, make struct ftrace_regs an empty structure and have the
architectures define __arch_ftrace_regs and all the accessor functions
will typecast to it to get to the actual fields. This will help avoid
usage of ftrace_regs directly.

riscv: patch: Flush the icache right after patching to avoid illegal insns
We cannot delay the icache flush after patching some functions as we may
have patched a function that will get called before the icache flush.

The only way to completely avoid such scenario is by flushing the icache
as soon as we patch a function. This will probably be costly as we don't
batch the icache maintenance anymore.

riscv: Fix early ftrace nop patching
Commit c97bf62996 ("riscv: Fix text patching when IPI are used")
converted ftrace_make_nop() to use patch_insn_write() which does not
emit any icache flush relying entirely on __ftrace_modify_code() to do
that.

But we missed that ftrace_make_nop() was called very early directly when
converting mcount calls into nops (actually on riscv it converts 2B nops
emitted by the compiler into 4B nops).

This caused crashes on multiple HW as reported by Conor and Björn since
the booting core could have half-patched instructions in its icache
which would trigger an illegal instruction trap: fix this by emitting a
local flush icache when early patching nops.

ftrace: riscv: move from REGS to ARGS
This commit replaces riscv's support for FTRACE_WITH_REGS with support
for FTRACE_WITH_ARGS. This is required for the ongoing effort to stop
relying on stop_machine() for RISCV's implementation of ftrace.

The main relevant benefit that this change will bring for the above
use-case is that now we don't have separate ftrace_caller and
ftrace_regs_caller trampolines. This will allow the callsite to call
ftrace_caller by modifying a single instruction. Now the callsite can
do something similar to:

The above assumes that we are dropping the support of calling a direct
trampoline from the callsite. We need to drop this as the callsite can't
change the target address to call, it can only enable/disable a call to
a preset target (ftrace_caller in the above diagram). We can later optimize
this by calling an intermediate dispatcher trampoline before ftrace_caller.

Currently, ftrace_regs_caller saves all CPU registers in the format of
struct pt_regs and allows the tracer to modify them. We don't need to
save all of the CPU registers because at function entry only a subset of
pt_regs is live:

Saving just the live registers decreases the amount of stack space
required from 288 Bytes to 112 Bytes.

Basic testing was done with this on the VisionFive 2 development board.

  - Moving from REGS to ARGS will mean that RISCV will stop supporting
    KPROBES_ON_FTRACE as it requires full pt_regs to be saved.
  - KPROBES_ON_FTRACE will be supplanted by FPROBES see [2].

riscv: Fix text patching when IPI are used
For now, we use stop_machine() to patch the text and when we use IPIs for
remote icache flushes (which is emitted in patch_text_nosync()), the system
hangs.

So instead, make sure every CPU executes the stop_machine() patching
function and emit a local icache flush there.

riscv: ftrace: Make function graph use ftrace directly
Similar to commit 0c0593b45c ("x86/ftrace: Make function graph use
ftrace directly") and commit c4a0ebf87c ("arm64/ftrace: Make
function graph use ftrace directly"), RISC-V has no need for a special
graph tracer hook. The graph_ops::func function can be used to install
the return_hooker.

This cleanup only changes the FTRACE_WITH_REGS implementation, leaving
the mcount-based implementation is unaffected.

Perform the simplification, and also cleanup the register save/restore
macros.

RISC-V: Don't check text_mutex during stop_machine
We're currently using stop_machine() to update ftrace & kprobes, which
means that the thread that takes text_mutex during may not be the same
as the thread that eventually patches the code.  This isn't actually a
race because the lock is still held (preventing any other concurrent
accesses) and there is only one thread running during stop_machine(),
but it does trigger a lockdep failure.

This patch just elides the lockdep check during stop_machine.

riscv: ftrace: Reduce the detour code size to half
Use a temporary register to reduce the size of detour code from 16 bytes to
8 bytes. The previous implementation is from 'commit afc76b8b80 ("riscv:
Using PATCHABLE_FUNCTION_ENTRY instead of MCOUNT")'.

Before the patch:
<func_prolog>:
 0: REG_S  ra, -SZREG(sp)
 4: auipc  ra, ?
 8: jalr   ?(ra)
12: REG_L  ra, -SZREG(sp)
 (func_boddy)

After the patch:
<func_prolog>:
 0: auipc  t0, ?
 4: jalr   t0, ?(t0)
 (func_boddy)

This patch not just reduces the size of detour code, but also fixes an
important issue:

An Ftrace callback registered with FTRACE_OPS_FL_IPMODIFY flag can
actually change the instruction pointer, e.g. to "replace" the given
kernel function with a new one, which is needed for livepatching, etc.

In this case, the trampoline (ftrace_regs_caller) would not return to
<func_prolog+12> but would rather jump to the new function. So, "REG_L
ra, -SZREG(sp)" would not run and the original return address would not
be restored. The kernel is likely to hang or crash as a result.

This can be easily demonstrated if one tries to "replace", say,
cmdline_proc_show() with a new function with the same signature using
instruction_pointer_set(&fregs->regs, new_func_addr) in the Ftrace
callback.

riscv: Using PATCHABLE_FUNCTION_ENTRY instead of MCOUNT
This patch changes the current detour mechanism of dynamic ftrace
which has been discussed during LPC 2020 RISCV-MC [1].

Before the patch, we used mcount for detour:

After the patch, we use nop call site area for detour:

The mcount mechanism is mixed with gcc function prologue which is
not very clear. The patchable function entry just put 16 bytes nop
before the front of the function prologue which could be filled
with a separated detour mechanism.

RISC-V: Take text_mutex in ftrace_init_nop()
Without this we get lockdep failures.  They're spurious failures as SMP isn't
up when ftrace_init_nop() is called.  As far as I can tell the easiest fix is
to just take the lock, which also seems like the safest fix.

riscv: Use text_mutex instead of patch_lock
We don't need the additional lock protection when patching the text.

There are two patching interfaces here:
 - patch_text: patch code and always synchronize with stop_machine()
 - patch_text_nosync: patch code without synchronization, it's caller's
                      responsibility to synchronize all CPUs if needed.

For the first one, stop_machine() is protected by its own mutex, and
also the irq is already disabled here.

For the second one, in risc-v real case now, it would be used to ftrace
patching the mcount function, since it already running under
kstop_machine(), no other thread will run, so we could use text_mutex
on ftrace side.

e949b6db51 riscv/function_graph: Simplify with function_graph_enter()
The function_graph_enter() function does the work of calling the function
graph hook function and the management of the shadow stack, simplifying the
work done in the architecture dependent prepare_ftrace_return().

Have riscv use the new code, and remove the shadow stack management as well as
having to set up the trace structure.

This is needed to prepare for a fix of a design bug on how the curr_ret_stack
is used.

riscv/ftrace: Add HAVE_FUNCTION_GRAPH_RET_ADDR_PTR support
In walk_stackframe, the pc now receives the address from calling
ftrace_graph_ret_addr instead of manual calculation.

Note that the original calculation,
        pc = frame->ra - 4
is buggy when the instruction at the return address happened to be a
compressed inst. But since it is not a critical part of ftrace, it is
ignored for now to ease the review process.

following call sequence:

* ftracer_caller         ==> on/off by ftrace_make_call/ftrace_make_nop
* ftrace_graph_caller
* ftrace_graph_call      ==> on/off by ftrace_en/disable_ftrace_graph_caller
* prepare_ftrace_return

Considering the following DYNAMIC_FTRACE_WITH_REGS feature, it would be
more extendable to have a ftrace_graph_caller function, instead of
calling prepare_ftrace_return directly in ftrace_caller.

riscv/ftrace: Add dynamic function tracer support
We now have dynamic ftrace with the following added items:

* ftrace_make_call, ftrace_make_nop (in kernel/ftrace.c)
  The two functions turn each recorded call site of filtered functions
  into a call to ftrace_caller or nops

* ftracce_update_ftrace_func (in kernel/ftrace.c)
  turns the nops at ftrace_call into a call to a generic entry for
  function tracers.

* ftrace_caller (in kernel/mcount-dyn.S)
  The entry where each _mcount call sites calls to once they are
  filtered to be traced.

Also, this patch fixes the semantic problems in mcount.S, which will be
treated as only a reference implementation once we have the dynamic
ftrace.

riscv/ftrace: Add basic support
This patch contains basic ftrace support for RV64I platform.
Specifically, function tracer (HAVE_FUNCTION_TRACER), function graph
tracer (HAVE_FUNCTION_GRAPH_TRACER), and a frame pointer test
(HAVE_FUNCTION_GRAPH_FP_TEST) are implemented following the
instructions in Documentation/trace/ftrace-design.txt.

Note that the functions in both ftrace.c and setup.c should not be
hooked with the compiler's -pg option: to prevent infinite self-
referencing for the former, and to ignore early setup stuff for the
latter.
