8fa7292fee treewide: Switch/rename to timer_delete[_sync]()
timer_delete[_sync]() replaces del_timer[_sync](). Convert the whole tree
over and remove the historical wrapper inlines.

Conversion was done with coccinelle plus manual fixups where necessary.

drm/bridge: Add encoder parameter to drm_bridge_funcs.attach
The drm_bridge structure contains an encoder pointer that is widely used
by bridge drivers. This pattern is largely documented as deprecated in
other KMS entities for atomic drivers.

However, one of the main use of that pointer is done in attach to just
call drm_bridge_attach on the next bridge to add it to the bridge list.
While this dereferences the bridge->encoder pointer, it's effectively
the same encoder the bridge was being attached to.

We can make it more explicit by adding the encoder the bridge is
attached to to the list of attach parameters. This also removes the need
to dereference bridge->encoder in most drivers.

07efb761b6 drm/omap/dss: Use syscon_regmap_lookup_by_phandle_args
Use syscon_regmap_lookup_by_phandle_args() which is a wrapper over
syscon_regmap_lookup_by_phandle() combined with getting the syscon
argument.  Except simpler code this annotates within one line that given
phandle has arguments, so grepping for code would be easier.

There is also no real benefit in printing errors on missing syscon
argument, because this is done just too late: runtime check on
static/build-time data.  Dtschema and Devicetree bindings offer the
static/build-time check for this already.

cb2e1c2136 drm: remove driver date from struct drm_driver and all drivers
We stopped using the driver initialized date in commit 7fb8af6798
("drm: deprecate driver date") and (eventually) started returning "0"
for drm_version ioctl instead.

Finish the job, and remove the unused date member from struct
drm_driver, its initialization from drivers, along with the common
DRIVER_DATE macros.

e70140ba0d Get rid of 'remove_new' relic from platform driver struct
The continual trickle of small conversion patches is grating on me, and
is really not helping.  Just get rid of the 'remove_new' member
function, which is just an alias for the plain 'remove', and had a
comment to that effect:

   * New drivers are supposed to implement .remove(). Once all drivers are
   * converted to not use .remove_new any more, it will be dropped.
   */

This was just a tree-wide 'sed' script that replaced '.remove_new' with
'.remove', with some care taken to turn a subsequent tab into two tabs
to make things line up.

I did do some minimal manual whitespace adjustment for places that used
spaces to line things up.

Then I just removed the old (sic) .remove_new member function, and this
is the end result.  No more unnecessary conversion noise.

2eb747a598 drm/omap: Clean up deadcode functions
dispc_enable_fifomerge() last use was removed by 2012's
commit 85099f11bd ("Revert "OMAPDSS: APPLY: add fifo merge support
funcs"")

dispc_has_writeback(), dispc_wb_get_framedone_irq(), dispc_wb_go(),
dispc_wb_go_busy() and dispc_wb_setup() were changed from statics
to public symbols and unwired from a structure by 2020's
commit dac62bcafe ("drm/omap: remove dispc_ops")
but didn't have any users.

dispc_mgr_get_clock_div() got renamed from dispc_get_clock_div()
and it's last use was removed in 2011 by commit
42c9dee821 ("OMAP: DSS2: Remove FB_OMAP_BOOTLOADER_INIT support")

Remove them.

15499749fb drm/omapdrm: Run DRM default client setup
Rework fbdev probing to support fbdev_probe in struct drm_driver
and remove the old fb_probe callback. Provide an initializer macro
for struct drm_driver that sets the callback according to the kernel
configuration.

Call drm_client_setup() to run the kernel's default client setup
for DRM. Set fbdev_probe in struct drm_driver, so that the client
setup can start the common fbdev client.

The omapdrm driver specifies a preferred color mode of 32. As this
is the default if no format has been given, leave it out entirely.

eae9b5437a drm/omapdrm: Remove struct drm_fb_helper from struct omap_fbdev.
Store instances of drm_fb_helper and struct omap_fbdev separately.
This will allow omapdrm to use the common fbdev client, which allocates
its own instance of struct drm_fb_helper.

There is at most one instance of each per DRM device, so both can be
referenced directly from the omap and DRM device structures. A later

e6a1c40372 drm/omap: Fix locking in omap_gem_new_dmabuf()
omap_gem_new_dmabuf() creates the new gem object, and then takes and
holds the omap_obj->lock for the rest of the function. This has two
issues:

- omap_gem_free_object(), which is called in the error paths, also takes
  the same lock, leading to deadlock
- Even if the above wouldn't happen, in the error cases
  omap_gem_new_dmabuf() still unlocks omap_obj->lock, even after the
  omap_obj has already been freed.

Furthermore, I don't think there's any reason to take the lock at all,
as the object was just created and not yet shared with anyone else.

To fix all this, drop taking the lock.

I think we would do just fine without readl() and writel(), accessing
the memory without any extras, but ensuring that the necessary barriers
are in place. But this code is for a legacy platform, has been working
for ages, and it's doing work-arounds for hardware issues, and those
hardware issues are very difficult to trigger... So I would just rather
leave the code be as it is now.

However, the warnings are not nice. Hide the warnings by a (__iomem void
*) typecast.

drivers/gpu/drm/omapdrm/dss/base.c:176 omapdss_device_disconnect() error: we previously assumed 'src' could be null (see line 169)

This code is mostly from a time when omapdrm had its own display device
model. I can't honestly remember the details, and I don't think it's
worth digging in deeply into that for a legacy driver.

However, it looks like we only call omapdss_device_disconnect() and
omapdss_device_connect() with NULL as the src parameter. We can thus
drop the src parameter from both functions, and fix the smatch warning.

I don't think omapdss_device_disconnect() ever gets NULL for the dst
parameter (if it did, we'd crash soon after returning from the
function), but I have kept the !dst check, just in case, but I added a
WARN_ON() there.

Also, if the dst parameter can be NULL, we can't always get the struct
dss_device pointer from dst->dss (which is only used for a debug print).
To make sure we can't hit that issue, do it similarly to the
omapdss_device_connect() function: add 'struct dss_device *dss' as the
first parameter, so that we always have it regardless of the dst.

01c0cce88c drm/omapdrm: Fix console with deferred ops
Commit 95da53d63d ("drm/omapdrm: Use regular fbdev I/O helpers")
stopped console from updating for command mode displays because there is
no damage handling in fb_sys_write() unlike we had earlier in
drm_fb_helper_sys_write().

Let's fix the issue by adding FB_GEN_DEFAULT_DEFERRED_DMAMEM_OPS and
FB_DMAMEM_HELPERS_DEFERRED as suggested by Thomas. We cannot use the
FB_DEFAULT_DEFERRED_OPS as fb_deferred_io_mmap() won't work properly
for write-combine.

ce3d99c834 drm: Call drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() at shutdown time for misc drivers
Based on grepping through the source code these drivers appear to be
missing a call to drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() at system shutdown
time. Among other things, this means that if a panel is in use that it
won't be cleanly powered off at system shutdown time.

The fact that we should call drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() in the case
of OS shutdown/restart comes straight out of the kernel doc "driver
instance overview" in drm_drv.c.

All of the drivers in this patch were fairly straightforward to fix
since they already had a call to drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() at
remove/unbind time but were just lacking one at system shutdown. The
only hitch is that some of these drivers use the component model to
register/unregister their DRM devices. The shutdown callback is part
of the original device. The typical solution here, based on how other
DRM drivers do this, is to keep track of whether the device is bound
based on drvdata. In most cases the drvdata is the drm_device, so we
can just make sure it is NULL when the device is not bound. In some
drivers, this required minor code changes. To make things simpler,
drm_atomic_helper_shutdown() has been modified to consider a NULL
drm_device as a noop in the patch ("drm/atomic-helper:
drm_atomic_helper_shutdown(NULL) should be a noop").

Change the infix for fbdev's DMA-memory helpers from _DMA_ to
_DMAMEM_. The helpers perform operations within DMA-able memory,
but they don't perform DMA operations. Naming should make this
clear. Adapt all users. No functional changes.

da6eb399d4 drm/omapdrm: Use GEM mmap for fbdev emulation
The fbdev emulation currently uses fbdev's default mmap code, which
has been written for I/O memory. Provide an mmap that uses GEM's mmap
infrastructure.

Utilize fine-grained fbdev macros to initialize struct fb_ops. The
macros set the read/write and the draw callbacks for DMA memory. Set
the fb_mmap callback to omapdrm's new mmap helper. Also select the
correct Kconfig token for fbdev's DMA helpers. Note that the DMA
helpers are the same as for system memory.

413b75745f drm/omapdrm: Set VM flags in GEM-object mmap function
Use the mmap callback in struct drm_gem_object_funcs to set the
VM flags. Replace a number of mmap helpers in omapdrm with their
GEM helper counterparts. Generate DRM's file-operations instance
with GEM's DEFINE_DRM_GEM_FOPS.

The omapdrm driver uses DRM's drm_gem_mmap() helper to prepare
the VMA structure. It then modifies the resulting VMA state in
its own helper omap_gem_mmap_obj(). The patch improves this by
setting up the VMA in the mmap callback in drm_gem_object_funcs,
which is called from within drm_gem_mmap().

Omapdrm's omap_gem_mmap() and omap_gem_mmap() can then be removed
from the driver. A call to drm_gem_mmap() is sufficient for the
mmap operation.

Finally, with the omap functions gone, the drivers file_ops in
omapdriver_fops can be generated with DEFINE_DRM_GEM_FOPS, which
sets DRM's default helpers.
