dd71776276 drm/shmem-helper: Fix unsetting shmem vaddr while vmap refcount > 0
We switched to use refcount_t for vmaps and missed to change the vunmap
code to properly unset the vmap pointer, which is now cleared while vmap's
refcount > 0. Clear the cached vmap pointer only when refcounting drops to
zero to fix the bug.

Fixes: e1fc39a923 ("drm/shmem-helper: Use refcount_t for vmap_use_count")

e1fc39a923 drm/shmem-helper: Use refcount_t for vmap_use_count
Use refcount_t helper for vmap_use_count to make refcounting consistent
with pages_use_count and pages_pin_count that use refcount_t. This also
makes vmapping to benefit from the refcount_t's overflow checks.

0271cc484f drm/shmem-helper: Switch drm_gem_shmem_vmap/vunmap to use pin/unpin
The vmapped pages shall be pinned in memory and previously get/put_pages()
were implicitly hard-pinning/unpinning the pages. This will no longer be
the case with addition of memory shrinker because pages_use_count > 0 won't
determine anymore whether pages are hard-pinned (they will be soft-pinned),
while the new pages_pin_count will do the hard-pinning. Switch the
vmap/vunmap() to use pin/unpin() functions in a preparation of addition
of the memory shrinker support to drm-shmem.

d586b535f1 drm/shmem-helper: Add and use pages_pin_count
Add separate pages_pin_count for tracking of whether drm-shmem pages are
moveable or not. With the addition of memory shrinker support to drm-shmem,
the pages_use_count will no longer determine whether pages are hard-pinned
in memory, but whether pages exist and are soft-pinned (and could be swapped
out). The pages_pin_count > 1 will hard-pin pages in memory.

39bc27bd68 drm/shmem-helper: Fix BUG_ON() on mmap(PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE)
Lack of check for copy-on-write (COW) mapping in drm_gem_shmem_mmap
allows users to call mmap with PROT_WRITE and MAP_PRIVATE flag
causing a kernel panic due to BUG_ON in vmf_insert_pfn_prot:
BUG_ON((vma->vm_flags & VM_PFNMAP) && is_cow_mapping(vma->vm_flags));

Return -EINVAL early if COW mapping is detected.

This bug affects all drm drivers using default shmem helpers.
It can be reproduced by this simple example:
void *ptr = mmap(0, size, PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE, fd, mmap_offset);
ptr[0] = 0;

ec144244a4 drm/gem-shmem: Acquire reservation lock in GEM pin/unpin callbacks
Export drm_gem_shmem_pin_locked() and acquire the reservation lock
directly in GEM pin callback. Same for unpin. Prepares for further

Dma-buf locking semantics require callers to hold the buffer's

gem-shmem accordingly by pushing locking out of the implementation.
A follow-up patch will fix locking for all GEM code at once.

e0106ac978 Revert "drm/shmem-helper: Switch to reservation lock"

Replace all drm-shmem locks with a GEM reservation lock. This makes locks
consistent with dma-buf locking convention where importers are responsible

preventing deadlock between dma-buf importers and exporters.

3ad8173b4d drm/shmem: Cleanup drm_gem_shmem_create_with_handle()
Once we create the handle, the handle owns the reference. Currently
nothing was doing anything with the shmem ptr after the handle was
created, but let's change drm_gem_shmem_create_with_handle() to not
return the pointer, so-as to not encourage problematic use of this
function in the future. As a bonus, it makes the code a bit cleaner.

drm/shmem-helper: Avoid vm_open error paths
vm_open() is not allowed to fail. Fortunately we are guaranteed that
the pages are already pinned, thanks to the initial mmap which is now
being cloned into a forked process, and only need to increment the
refcnt. So just increment it directly. Previously if a signal was
delivered at the wrong time to the forking process, the
mutex_lock_interruptible() could fail resulting in the pages_use_count
not being incremented.

c6fc836488 drm/gem-shmem: Don't store mmap'ed buffers in core dumps
Set the VM_DONTDUMP flag on mmap'ed VMAs to omit them from core
dumps. It's display-buffer memory; who knows what secrets these
buffers contain.

d315bdbfeb drm/gem-shmem: Set vm_ops in static initializer
Initialize default vm_ops in static initialization of the GEM SHMEM funcs,
instead of the mmap code. It's simply better style. GEM helpers will later
set a VMA's vm_ops from the default automatically.

v2:
	* also update the drivers that build upon GEM SHMEM

7938f42181 dma-buf-map: Rename to iosys-map
Rename struct dma_buf_map to struct iosys_map and corresponding APIs.
Over time dma-buf-map grew up to more functionality than the one used by
dma-buf: in fact it's just a shim layer to abstract system memory, that
can be accessed via regular load and store, from IO memory that needs to
be acessed via arch helpers.

The idea is to extend this API so it can fulfill other needs, internal
to a single driver. Example: in the i915 driver it's desired to share
the implementation for integrated graphics, which uses mostly system
memory, with discrete graphics, which may need to access IO memory.

The conversion was mostly done with the following semantic patch:

	@r1@
	@@
	- struct dma_buf_map
	+ struct iosys_map

	@r2@
	@@
	(
	- DMA_BUF_MAP_INIT_VADDR
	+ IOSYS_MAP_INIT_VADDR
	|
	- dma_buf_map_set_vaddr
	+ iosys_map_set_vaddr
	|
	- dma_buf_map_set_vaddr_iomem
	+ iosys_map_set_vaddr_iomem
	|
	- dma_buf_map_is_equal
	+ iosys_map_is_equal
	|
	- dma_buf_map_is_null
	+ iosys_map_is_null
	|
	- dma_buf_map_is_set
	+ iosys_map_is_set
	|
	- dma_buf_map_clear
	+ iosys_map_clear
	|
	- dma_buf_map_memcpy_to
	+ iosys_map_memcpy_to
	|
	- dma_buf_map_incr
	+ iosys_map_incr
	)

	@@
	@@
	- #include <linux/dma-buf-map.h>
	+ #include <linux/iosys-map.h>

Then some files had their includes adjusted and some comments were
update to remove mentions to dma-buf-map.

Since this is not specific to dma-buf anymore, move the documentation to
the "Bus-Independent Device Accesses" section.

v2:
  - Squash patches

v3:
  - Fix wrong removal of dma-buf.h from MAINTAINERS
  - Move documentation from dma-buf.rst to device-io.rst

v4:
  - Change documentation title and level

Merge v5.16-rc5 into drm-next

Thomas Zimmermann requested a fixes backmerge, specifically also for
96c5f82ef0 ("drm/vc4: fix error code in vc4_create_object()")

Just a bunch of adjacent changes conflicts, even the big pile of them
in vc4.
