x86/ACPI: Preserve ACPI-table override during hibernation
When overriding NHLT ACPI-table tests show that on some platforms there is problem that NHLT contains garbage after hibernation/resume cycle. Problem stems from the fact that ACPI override performs early memory allocation using memblock_phys_alloc_range() in memblock_phys_alloc_range(). This memory block is later being marked as ACPI memory block in arch_reserve_mem_area(). Later when memory areas are considered for hibernation it is being marked as nosave in e820__register_nosave_regions(). Fix this by marking ACPI override memory area as ACPI NVS (Non-Volatile-Sleeping), which according to specification needs to be saved on entering S4 and restored when leaving and is implemented as such in kernel. x86/acpi/x86/boot: Add multiprocessor wake-up support
Secondary CPU startup is currently performed with something called the "INIT/SIPI protocol". This protocol requires assistance from VMMs to boot guests. As should be a familiar story by now, that support can not be provded to TDX guests because TDX VMMs are not trusted by guests. To remedy this situation a new[1] "Multiprocessor Wakeup Structure" has been added to to an existing ACPI table (MADT). This structure provides the physical address of a "mailbox". A write to the mailbox then steers the secondary CPU to the boot code. Add ACPI MADT wake structure parsing support and wake support. Use this support to wake CPUs whenever it is present instead of INIT/SIPI. While this structure can theoretically be used on 32-bit kernels, there are no 32-bit TDX guest kernels. It has not been tested and can not practically *be* tested on 32-bit. Make it 64-bit only. 1. Details about the new structure can be found in ACPI v6.4, in the "Multiprocessor Wakeup Structure" section. "These are mostly fixes and cleanups all over the code and a new piece
of documentation for Intel uncore frequency scaling.
Functionality-wise, the intel_idle driver will support Sapphire Rapids

the ACPI S4 hardware signature into account by default, the
intel_pstate driver will take the defualt EPP value from the firmware,

previous cycle, and there is a new tracer utility for that driver.

PM: hibernate: Honour ACPI hardware signature by default for virtual guests
The ACPI specification says that OSPM should refuse to restore from hibernate if the hardware signature changes, and should boot from scratch. However, real BIOSes often vary the hardware signature in cases where we *do* want to resume from hibernate, so Linux doesn't follow the spec by default. However, in a virtual environment there's no reason for the VMM to vary the hardware signature *unless* it wants to trigger a clean reboot as defined by the ACPI spec. So enable the check by default if a hypervisor is detected. Signed-off-by: David Woodhouse <dwmw@amazon.co.uk> Signed-off-by: Rafael J. Wysocki <rafael.j.wysocki@intel.com> |

ACPI / x86: Work around broken XSDT on Advantech DAC-BJ01 board
On this board the ACPI RSDP structure points to both a RSDT and an XSDT, but the XSDT points to a truncated FADT. This causes all sorts of trouble and usually a complete failure to boot after the following error occurs: ACPI Error: Unsupported address space: 0x20 (*/hwregs-*) ACPI Error: AE_SUPPORT, Unable to initialize fixed events (*/evevent-*) ACPI: Unable to start ACPI Interpreter This leaves the ACPI implementation in such a broken state that subsequent kernel subsystem initialisations go wrong, resulting in among others mismapped PCI memory, SATA and USB enumeration failures, and freezes. As this is an older embedded platform that will likely never see any BIOS updates to address this issue and its default shipping OS only complies to ACPI 1.0, work around this by forcing `acpi=rsdt`. This patch, applied on top of Linux 5.10.102, was confirmed on real hardware to fix the issue. x86/ACPI: CPPC: Move init_freq_invariance_cppc() into x86 CPPC
The init_freq_invariance_cppc code actually doesn't need the SMP functionality. So setting the CONFIG_SMP as the check condition for init_freq_invariance_cppc may cause the confusion to misunderstand the CPPC. And the x86 CPPC file is better space to store the CPPC related functions, while the init_freq_invariance_cppc is out of smpboot, that means, the CONFIG_SMP won't be mandatory condition any more. PM: hibernate: Allow ACPI hardware signature to be honoured
Theoretically, when the hardware signature in FACS changes, the OS is supposed to gracefully decline to attempt to resume from S4: "If the signature has changed, OSPM will not restore the system context and can boot from scratch" In practice, Windows doesn't do this and many laptop vendors do allow the signature to change especially when docking/undocking, so it would be a bad idea to simply comply with the specification by default in the general case. However, there are use cases where we do want the compliant behaviour and we know it's safe. Specifically, when resuming virtual machines where we know the hypervisor has changed sufficiently that resume will fail. We really want to be able to *tell* the guest kernel not to try, so it boots cleanly and doesn't just crash. This patch provides a way to opt in to the spec-compliant behaviour on the command line. A follow-up patch may do this automatically for certain "known good" machines based on a DMI match, or perhaps just for all hypervisor guests since there's no good reason a hypervisor would change the hardware_signature that it exposes to guests *unless* it wants them to obey the ACPI specification. A number of systems are showing "hotplug capable" CPUs when they are not really hotpluggable. This is because the MADT has extra CPU entries to support different CPUs that may be inserted into the socket with different numbers of cores. Starting with ACPI 6.3 the spec has an Online Capable bit in the MADT used to determine whether or not a CPU is hotplug capable when the enabled bit is not set. x86/cstate: Allow ACPI C1 FFH MWAIT use on Hygon systems
Hygon systems support the MONITOR/MWAIT instructions and these can be used for ACPI C1 in the same way as on AMD and Intel systems. kasan: remove redundant config option
CONFIG_KASAN_STACK and CONFIG_KASAN_STACK_ENABLE both enable KASAN stack
instrumentation, but we should only need one config, so that we remove
CONFIG_KASAN_STACK_ENABLE and make CONFIG_KASAN_STACK workable. see [1].
When enable KASAN stack instrumentation, then for gcc we could do no
prompt and default value y, and for clang prompt and default value n.
This patch fixes the following compilation warning:

kasan, arm64: unpoison stack only with CONFIG_KASAN_STACK
There's a config option CONFIG_KASAN_STACK that has to be enabled for KASAN to use stack instrumentation and perform validity checks for stack variables. There's no need to unpoison stack when CONFIG_KASAN_STACK is not enabled. Only call kasan_unpoison_task_stack[_below]() when CONFIG_KASAN_STACK is enabled. Note, that CONFIG_KASAN_STACK is an option that is currently always defined when CONFIG_KASAN is enabled, and therefore has to be tested with #if instead of #ifdef. x86/mce, cper: Pass x86 CPER through the MCA handling chain
The kernel uses ACPI Boot Error Record Table (BERT) to report fatal errors that occurred in a previous boot. The MCA errors in the BERT are reported using the x86 Processor Error Common Platform Error Record (CPER) format. Currently, the record prints out the raw MSR values and AMD relies on the raw record to provide MCA information. Extract the raw MSR values of MCA registers from the BERT and feed them into mce_log() to decode them properly. The implementation is SMCA-specific as the raw MCA register values are given in the register offset order of the SMCA address space. acpi/x86: ignore unspecified bit positions in the ACPI global lock field
The value in "new" is constructed from "old" such that all bits defined as reserved by the ACPI spec[1] are left untouched. But if those bits do not happen to be all zero, "new < 3" will not evaluate to true. The firmware of the laptop(s) Medion MD63490 / Akoya P15648 comes with garbage inside the "FACS" ACPI table. The starting value is old=0x4944454d, therefore new=0x4944454e, which is >= 3. Mask off the reserved bits. x86/ACPI/sleep: Move acpi_get_wakeup_address() into sleep.c, remove <asm/realmode.h> from <asm/acpi.h>

x86/asm/suspend: Use SYM_DATA for data
Some global data in the suspend code were marked as `ENTRY'. ENTRY was intended for functions and shall be paired with ENDPROC. ENTRY also aligns symbols to 16 bytes which creates unnecessary holes. Note that: * saved_magic (long) in wakeup_32 is still prepended by section's ALIGN * saved_magic (quad) in wakeup_64 follows a bunch of quads which are aligned (but need not be aligned to 16) Since historical markings are being dropped, make proper use of newly added SYM_DATA in this code. Merge branch 'next-lockdown' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jmorris/linux-security
Pull kernel lockdown mode from James Morris:
"This is the latest iteration of the kernel lockdown patchset, from
Matthew Garrett, David Howells and others.
From the original description:
This patchset introduces an optional kernel lockdown feature,
intended to strengthen the boundary between UID 0 and the kernel.
When enabled, various pieces of kernel functionality are restricted.
Applications that rely on low-level access to either hardware or the
kernel may cease working as a result - therefore this should not be
enabled without appropriate evaluation beforehand.
The majority of mainstream distributions have been carrying variants
of this patchset for many years now, so there's value in providing a
doesn't meet every distribution requirement, but gets us much closer
to not requiring external patches.
There are two major changes since this was last proposed for mainline:
- Separating lockdown from EFI secure boot. Background discussion is
covered here: https://lwn.net/Articles/751061/
- Implementation as an LSM, with a default stackable lockdown LSM
module. This allows the lockdown feature to be policy-driven,
rather than encoding an implicit policy within the mechanism.
The new locked_down LSM hook is provided to allow LSMs to make a
policy decision around whether kernel functionality that would allow
tampering with or examining the runtime state of the kernel should be
permitted.
The included lockdown LSM provides an implementation with a simple
policy intended for general purpose use. This policy provides a coarse
level of granularity, controllable via the kernel command line:
lockdown={integrity|confidentiality}
Enable the kernel lockdown feature. If set to integrity, kernel features
that allow userland to modify the running kernel are disabled. If set to
confidentiality, kernel features that allow userland to extract
confidential information from the kernel are also disabled.
This may also be controlled via /sys/kernel/security/lockdown and
overriden by kernel configuration.
New or existing LSMs may implement finer-grained controls of the
lockdown features. Refer to the lockdown_reason documentation in
include/linux/security.h for details.
The lockdown feature has had signficant design feedback and review
across many subsystems. This code has been in linux-next for some
weeks, with a few fixes applied along the way.

x86/asm/suspend: Get rid of bogus_64_magic
bogus_64_magic is only a dead-end loop. There is no need for an out-of-order function (and unannotated local label), so just handle it in-place and also store 0xbad-m-a-g-i-c to %rcx beforehand, in case someone is inspecting registers. Here a qemu+gdb example: Remote debugging using localhost:1235 wakeup_long64 () at arch/x86/kernel/acpi/wakeup_64.S:26 26 jmp 1b (gdb) info registers rax 0x123456789abcdef0 1311768467463790320 rbx 0x0 0 rcx 0xbad6d61676963 3286910041024867 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ [ bp: Add the gdb example. ] Signed-off-by: Jiri Slaby <jslaby@suse.cz> Signed-off-by: Borislav Petkov <bp@suse.de> Cc: "H. acpi: Ignore acpi_rsdp kernel param when the kernel has been locked down
This option allows userspace to pass the RSDP address to the kernel, which makes it possible for a user to modify the workings of hardware. Reject the option when the kernel is locked down. This requires some reworking of the existing RSDP command line logic, since the early boot code also makes use of a command-line passed RSDP when locating the SRAT table before the lockdown code has been initialised. This is achieved by separating the command line RSDP path in the early boot code from the generic RSDP path, and then copying the command line RSDP into boot params in the kernel proper if lockdown is not enabled. If lockdown is enabled and an RSDP is provided on the command line, this will only be used when parsing SRAT (which shouldn't permit kernel code execution) and will be ignored in the rest of the kernel.
